That's a R293. They didn't come with a pattern number. They are called the hunter trader trapper. Could only be purchased from buying a subscription of hunter trader trapper magazine

Thank you for helping with the identification. So the knife looks too be correct? Did they come with etching? The blade looks too sharpened.

Yes, your knife is correct and they would have come etched.

Beautiful knife in fantastic condition. The pattern number is R1123. The R1128 has the same frame and the same blades, however the last digit of "8" indicates Cocobolo (wood) handles. The "3" and the "8" are sometimes hard to distinguish.
An interesting feature of your R1123 is that the blade etch is on the drop point blade (not the spey). The etch on the front drop point blade, along with the etch saying "master knife" vs "trademark", and the italicized tang stamp identify this knife as being produced in the mid to late 1930s.
None of what I explained makes any difference to the value - just interesting to note.

" mid to late 30's ", as opposed to ?
I'd like to see some postings of the Cocobolo Remington's, especially the R 1128's and I've never seen a R 3858. My R 3855 ( French ivory farmers jack ) is not marked at all and my cocobolo is marked R 1128 on the drop point and R1123 on the skinning blade. .

Harold
Lyle, My belief is the R1123 was the first bullet knife that Remington produced and that it was produced beginning in 1921. My reason for saying this is that I have seen an original R1123 box with a copyright year of 1921 stamped on the box.
The pattern number stamp on many R1128 will look messed with because the "8" was double stamped with a normal "3" and then over stamped with backwards "3" to "resemble" an 8. Remington themselves did this to repurpose the blades that were already stamped R1123.
Harold, Attached is a picture of a really nice R1128.
PS: Lyle, your R3855 is a fantastic example!

The R1123 and the R1128 both have flush square joints which necessitates very short tangs so it was very difficult to fit the tang stamp on the tang. It is unusual to see a clear, crisp, easy to read tang stamp on a R1123 / R1128.
