Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Thanks Mike.
I think it'll clean up fairly well. But as found, the blades need some TLC.

Those are some great knives posted guys, keep them coming!! ::tu::

Here is a new pickup of mine today. Got it at a small knife show in Cynthiana Ky. It is a Tested 63109 3 backspring whittler. All three blades are stamped and I really like the diamond shield. This one also has the J blade.

Thanks for looking.

Tom, that knife is so beautiful I'm almost hesitant to post mine.

But here it is. A 49 Copperhead .......... with several dots. Wanted one of these for a while. 4".
It's a pleasure to own.

Great find Tom. And congrats on your AAPK anniversary coming up tomorrow. Ten years! Appreciate your being here and showing knives like this one. ::handshake::

That Copperhead is also a beauty Joe! Really like that pattern.

Love that Copperhead Joe! I have been keeping my eyes open for one lie that for a while now, looks like a great pattern.

Thank you, Mike.
At 4 inches it's a great carry. Problem is at this era nobody knows how many dots are on the tang because of this desired bolster shape. At least I don't. It was a shot in the dark, but I chanced for a minty expen$ive one to put my own wear on it. If that makes sense. It has a dot below the A.

Thanks for the comments on the whittler.

Joe, The 70's knives are really nice in my opinion, and the copperhead is one of my favorite patterns. They are a pattern that were made to be used and are very practical. A lot of the 70's knives had really pretty bone as well, as is certainly the case with your knife.
I think the copperheads can be grouped with the old trapper and congress patterns. Since people used them, few old ones exist period, much less in great condition. That is what makes them collectible. ::

That's a nice one Joe. Sometimes you can see the reflection of the dots in the bolsterif you look straight down the blade as you rotate it between open and half stop.

Thank for the comment, Tom and Gregg.

I took a picture of the tang with a dot showing. Must be an 8 anyway, no?

Could be 8 or 9. That pretty red bone was more prevalent in the early 70's.

Thanks Gregg.
As I always do when I get a new knife, I take it to the sink and wash it just to remove who knows what. A lot of orange/red dye came out of the scales or from under the scales. It sat around for a long time unused ....... till now.

Yep. That usually comes off from use but when you get an old one in that condition there hasn't been much of that. I gott a 73 64047 that did the same thing.
