Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

Seem to be on a roll right now.

Wrote another one this afternoon. Guess it's half poem half prayer.

Here it is, hope you enjoy!
"By the Sea"
Oh Dear Lord,
Please give to me,
A house thats somewhere,
By the sea.
Only there,
Do I feel free,
Always longing,
For the sea.
Waves come crashing,
White with glee,
Seagulls chanting,
Over me.
Can you hear me,
Lord I Flee,
Bring my soul,
To the sea.
I love the mountains,
Planes and trees,
But most of all,
I love the seas!
Tiny creatures,
Lord are we,
Looking at,
The vast blue sea.
A lighthouse for you,
I will be,
Standing somewhere,
By the sea.
See me Father,
As I knee,
Asking only,
For the sea.
God I know,
That you love me,
Help me make it,
To the sea.
Almost heaven,
It will be,
Living somewhere,
By the sea.
A joyful heart,
Will be my key,
To a house,
Down by the sea.
Footprints in the,
Sand I see,
You'll be walking,
Next to me.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the kind comments!
That's probably it for a few months.
Seems like these things come in waves.

(pun intended)
Till next time, I remain, in search of another nice knife.

I know of which you speak, Tom. Sometimes, the inspiration is just not there...and then, other times, just the slightest of situations or events inspires a multitude of thoughts one jots down before they forget them. It's not something one can 'force'.

That last poem is a big, giant, wow! Beautifully put. I lived by the sea for 8 years, hence my resonance with your thoughts.

Cool QS! That's very interesting! Where at?
I lived in New Smyrna Beach, Florida during Highschool. We were only a few miles (ok 5 or 6) from the beach so I got into surfing for a while.

I worked a lot of hours when I was in HS but I would often drive to the beach late at night after work & just sit there in my car for 20-30 minutes and listen to the sound of the waves. It was such a relaxing sound. And the air!

Yep, nothing like it! Wish I could live close to the ocean again some day. That would be awesome!

Ya never know.

Tom, I lived at the water's edge in the Philippines for 4 years. Another 4 overlooking the north shore of Ohau. I also bought a few acres in Maine near East Machias. It was sort of a curiosity to me but my property line extended out to low tide. Lots of blueberries grew on the land.

"near East Machias"
Just how near? My grandparents lived in Machias. We spent a year there while Dad did a remote in Thailand.
I can tell people I attended college back in the 4th grade! The elementary school had a wing there at UMaine at Machias.
Small world.

Steve, my property was a few miles east, into Machiasport, thru the town across a stream which in the late sixties Atlantic salmon would come up to spawn. Maybe three or 4 more miles and you would be there. No houses around. I remember my second visit when I was trying to decide whether or not to purchase the property. While contemplating the issue and looking out over Holmes Bay, the first Bald Eagle I had ever seen flew low and slow past me. Took it as a sign and made the purchase. Many years later (15?), I sold it to a young couple, attorneys from Boston. Made a healthy profit which gave me some flexibility when I left the army. It was a beautiful location.

Beautiful area.
Then again, I've always said there are no bad parts of Maine, just some better than others

Philippines, Ohau & Maine. I bet those were all very beautiful places!

I'd love to see them all.

Especially Ohau. Thanks for sharing that with us.

How many of you remember this silly poem? There are several versions,
but this is my favorite one.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, hobos and tramps,
I’ll tell you a story I know nothing about;
The Admission is free, so pay at the door,
Now pull up a chair and sit on the floor.
One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight;
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A blind man came to watch their play,
A mute man came to shout “Horary!”
A deaf policeman heard the noise and
Came to arrest those two dead boys.
He lived on the corner in the middle of the block,
In a two-story house on a vacant lot;
A man with no legs came walking by,
and kicked the policeman in his thigh.
He crashed through a wall without making a sound,
into a dry creek bed and suddenly drowned;
A long black hearse came to cart him away,
But he ran for his life and is still gone today.
I watched from the corner of the big round table,
The only eyewitness to facts of my fable;
But if you doubt my lies are true,
Just ask the blind man, he saw it too."

Hello knifer friends,
It's been a while but I finally came up with a new knife poem. "Just-4-Fun"
Although I have almost only collected traditional folders untill now, I tried to throw in the works so that more knifers could identify with this poem. So anyways, here it is. Hope you enjoy!
"Knives"
Knives make me happy,
Whenever life's crappy,
Knives from now on,
Till I'm dead.
I remember the days,
Before I found knives,
And then,
I just shake my head.
Knives in my tackle box,
In my tool box & glove box,
In my mailbox,
My lunchbox at work.
Knives in the morning,
In the evening, at bedtime,
Knives driving my wife,
Berserk!
Hand forged & homemades,
U.S. & Swiss mades,
Knives,
In all shapes & sizes.
Folders & Fixed blades,
Razors & Switchblades,
HOK's with some "Uprades",
Life is just full of surprises.
Machetes & Hatchets,
And some very old axes,
Conquering,
Basement & barn.
Though some people think,
I seem to have lost it,
Somehow,
I don't give a darn.
Carvers & Cleavers,
And all those inbetweeners,
Making my kitchen,
Complete.
I'll tell you my friends,
But keep it a secret,
I dream about knives,
In my sleep.
Knives on my keychains,
Knives in my pockets,
I've even got knives,
On my wall.
Although there's no need,
To own all these knives,
Who cares,
I treasure them all.
