Boys Knives Through the Years

Here's a little boys knife I got today.
Nelson Knife Co., 1894

I think it's Nelson Knife Co., 2 3/4" closed with wood covers and half stop.
It appears to have bolsters but that is part of covers. It's a shadow.

Joe - Very cool and unique boys knife with carved wooden handles that sort of look like scratted bone in a way or perhaps a classic checkered design with a nice threaded bolster too -

... Early knife and possibly Nelson Hardware Roanoke VA - I don't know or have heard of too many makers or knife brands from VA ....

Nice knife FRJ. I fished this one out of a bunch of junk knives in a show case at a flea market this morning. Tang reads GEO SCHRADE PAT APD FOR.
Its basically a folded peice of metal. Has good snap and half stop. Still has some original shine on the blade. Its 3 1/8" closed, Im guessing it was called a boys knife.Has the small ring out the back for a chain. If anyone has any info on it I would appreciate it. When I have time I will search the forum for a catalog scan that shows it.

That was Schrades patented folded liner with the spring inside - on page 2 of this thread I showed a Shapleigh Boys Knife made by Schrade with the same patented folded liners and the last photo I think matches your knife when looking at the end of handle - except your liners were stamped and my knife had a wooden handle... thats cool

And can be bought really cheap. I gave 15.00 for this one. I will have to find the Shapleigh

... Yes many can be had at a good price but on the other hand you will also pay "decent" money for some pending maker, condition etc

Compared to a gec 14, which is a dandy of a boys knife.

Added this Cattaraugus Boys knife this week, early, hammered pins, no pattern number, close to unused with some rust spots, full blades with nice swedges, right at 3". Last pic shows it next to a GEC.

Thank you Lee, I was pretty happy with this one when I opened the package,the sellers pictures were pretty bad but I took a gamble on it and it paid off.
