Re: Knives Made Before The Year 1960
Well, I'm fairly certain it's not horn, dull finish, no shine. There's no shrinkage or disintigration or gassing that you might find with old cell. But Dimitri says celluloid and that's good enough for me.

Thats what made me wonder about it being cell, no shrinkage at all for a knife of that age, with that wear and patina on the blades.

Re: Knives Made Before The Year 1960
Tom, that is definitely celluloid. Some of the old stuff won't shrink or gas at all, while other colors will self destruct for no apparent reason at any time. I have had older cel knives (and newer) sit for years with no problems, then suddenly turn gooey and gas off with all the related problems (especially to other knives in close proximity). Diligence is strongly recommended!!!

Hey thanks Barry, guess I need to segregate from the rest. Man, you've got a special knife too. Very nice. It's got to be a great thrill to have your dad's knife. I have my grand-dad's old straight razor that he used every day, just an old cheap one, but one that will never go anywhere.

Wow Berry,
Not only is that a great old knife, but it has an awesome family connection!
It don't get any better than that!
