Your clues did a lot of the work for me. I’ve seen plenty of Kent knives but never knew that they were Woolworth’s house brand. **Someone else can take my turn.

The company whose name is on the tang was founded in America in the first half of the 19th century by an immigrant from Switzerland.

The Swiss immigrant's name is also the name of the company he founded (no, it's not Victor Inox  ::facepalm:: )

This company provided cutting tools to the Union Army during the American Civil War and after acquiring a competitor at the start of WW1 became the world's largest producer of fine scissors and shears.

Neither of those two.

Boker is close, though, because this company bought the American division of Boker in the early 1960s

You got it: J. Wiss & Sons👍🏻

BTW: Wiss also imported knives from Germany under the company name, but those were stamped with “Germany” while this one is stamped “J.W.& S, Newark, NJ” (due to wear it’s hard to photograph and read but that’s what it is) ::nod::

Not Kershaw

Not from a “major label” knife company.

I really thought this one would be easier. Most "knife people" don't think this one matches the quality of either Kershaw, or Cold Steel, and I guess most here don't look at "bottom shelf" knives. I can't speak to blade steel; but construction, action and fit & finish match several of my Kershaw "modern" folders.

Not CRKT. Not in the same league.
“Bottom shelf” knife, house brand of a major US discount retailer.

That should give it away 😉

You got it!
Christmas 2024 “Special”
Christmas 2024 “Special”
It’s really a nice little knife with great bang for the buck.
It’s actually better than the $10 “Ozark Grail Bugout Killer”, and cheaper too.

Your clues got me there for sure. That’s a nice looking knife for the money. The Bugout clones are well built and more my budget than the real ones. I feel like the “Butterfly Tax” is way way out of hand.

I don’t really have a guess, but that is one beauty of a well preserved antique knife.
