Right this minute I have a SOG Twitch II and Case Yellow CV penknife in pocket.
SOG does not have country of origin on it but I'm pretty sure it was made in America.

Here's what I carried, used, had on me, or messed around with this past fairly typical week. A group gives you far more perspective on a person than one knife.

For economic (or other) reasons, many mainstream knife companies manufacture knives in multiple countries both in the USA as well as overseas (Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Spain, Argentina, etc.), Kershaw, AG Russell, Buck, Boker to name just a few, and they don't always identify where a particular knife was made on the knife itself. Also, I've read that some companies contract the manufacture of parts in various countries and then have the knives assembled in the USA just so they can label it as "made in USA" (unfortunately, I do not have the documentation to back this up...it's just something I read once). In other words, just because a knife has "USA" etched on the blade or printed on the handle does not necessarily mean that it was made entirely in the USA. Kershaw is based in the USA, it is a USA company, and some of their knives have "Kershaw USA" printed on the handles even though any one particular knife itself may not have been manufactured entirely in the USA--but the various parts may have been assembled in the USA. We live in an increasingly global economy...so, to claim something is "Made in _______"(fill in the blank with country of choice) can, at worst, be an outright lie; and, at least, be a bit misleading. If you are concerned about not supporting repressive regimes to the point that you refuse to purchase products bearing the name of a specific country for political or humanitarian reasons then you are simply naive and uninformed. Think about it...where did the raw materials come from? How were the workers treated/paid who mined the ore that eventually became the blade, bolsters and back springs? Not to mention the workers who slaughtered, skinned, cut, dried and prepared the cattle shin bones or mixed the resins that went into producing the handle scales? Etc., etc... If you're going to get all "high and mighty" on your ethics and moral standards, you really shouldn't purchase any product that you don't make yourself, otherwise, you're just being a grandstanding hippocrite.

I don't think Dave was getting in a "dig" to your post. It seems you don't realize that Dave carries China made knives quite frequently and post them in this exact thread. Go to his reply, click profile, click search users posts. Look at the first 3 pages of his posts. Looks to me Dave has carried numerous Rough Riders, Cold Steel and some Chinese Schrades, all made in China in the past couple of weeks. He even says "China" on some posts and not in a derogatory way.

Did you see my post right above Dave's? Not sure anyone is getting "High and Mighty" around here. I think it is safe to assume most people know that most of the products we consume originate fully or partially outside of the US. It is also their choice to do as they please or live in the hills and buy nothing if they want.

I do appreciate your opinion and certainly understand it.

I got a further comment on the SOG. The blade sucks. It was all I could do to get it to slice paper.
And I couldn't get it to follow through. It LOOKS kinda goofy as well.

Here's a window to my soul brothers and sisters. Halleluiah, I was running out of space, I was in the bottom of the pit, all my boxes and rolls were full, didn't know what to do, who to turn to, how to get out. My wife wouldn't listen, my family didn't care. I didn't know what to do. I knew I was sick, had a terrible problem, had no more room to store them, but just kept buying more of them. They were piling up and taking over all my drawers and shelves and things and my life. They were walling me in, couldn't even see out, floundering, going nowhere, progress impeded, bogged down, in a jam, no way out. And there at the bottom with no place left to go but up Providence sent a messenger and he had the key and he brought it to my door and stood at my door and knocked and behold a package, and in that package was a case and in that case was a book and I opened the book and read the writing and I knew with God as my witness it was a package from Q Halleluiah and it was a display book, full of room to store the blades of life with neutral cloth that won't tarnish the bolsters and it was the promised land I was looking for, a land full of milk and honey and knife storage space that is endless, and more room to grow and has everything I needed, just like I had ordered it, but I didn't. and I swear to you in the name of all that is knife related, that it was good! Halleluiah, praise and blessings to all. Amen.

Is that one of those Hickory Hills 48 knife, two folders in a satchel fellers?

You're correct about the Hickory Hills, Jerry, but it's actually a 3-book satchel, with each book holding a total of 24 knives (two rows of six on each side)...so, a 72-knife satchel in all. I never used it as I prefer the black, vinyl, zippered 42-knife cases with the red felt lining. Filled to capacity, (depending on the size of the knives stored inside), even they can become quite heavy. I can't imagine how heavy the 72-knife satchel I sent to Ivoryman will be once he has it filled up with all his beautiful knives.

Filled with Camillus 72s and clones it weighs 14½ pounds. I have one of each. One 48 knife with misc. knives and then my 72's in a 72-knife satchel (rather fitting, don't you think?)

My cut and drool for the day:'76 Case Whaler and '14 Northwoods Freemont. Laid them out on the 'ole Stanley Wonder Bar and noticed lettering stamped on the back. Then where it came from, Mexico, and then wondered if that was how they really felt about us down in old Mexico where the bar was made. Why would Stanley let those letters go as well? What does that say about them? Read between the knives. Hmmmm.

Been giving away some EDCs lately so time to pull some permanently from the collection and into EDC duty.

The red bone XX 62055 got the first round pick. I have more in than I will ever get out and I just really like the knife. It was a display board knife (I can see a wire mark) and it morphed into some very beautiful and interesting coloring. Back side is a dark cranberry red. This one will pop even more with pocket wear to the scales. So maiden voyage for the Small Cigar today along with the almost black bone Swing Guard.

G-Dogg...that Ripple is one very fine knife. I've owned several and I have given all of them away as gifts because it's such a sweet knife and a great one to introduce people who never considered it to the wonderful world of pocket knives. Everyone I have given a Ripple to constantly tells me how much they like it...slim profile but with a substantial blade and the smooth Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) flipper opening is second to none.
One of the best production knives for the money that you can buy, IMPO.

Q U are right on about the Ripple,only drawback is the steel ok for weekends but cutting in motors and switch gear I can't make it thru the day...BUGSTER I like the weight of the Wave but the OHT is heavier and hard to get use too
