what do ya'll look like?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Love the picture Mike. Shame they gave y'all toy guns.

This picture was taken 26 years earlier on Monkey Mountain, northeast of Da Nang. I'm the one in the green skivvy shirt, jackin' around, acting a fool as usual. I managed to find all three of those guys and they're all still on the green side.

We provided gunfire support for the Marines and ARVON at Monkey Mountain anchored in Danang harbor in 1968 and 1970. ftd

When I was there in '65 & '66, that entire peninsula was commonly referred to as Monkey Mountain. Those who came later referred to their location by the height in meters of that particular peak. Our location was called Hill 647. To the west of us was Hill 621 which was the Air Force long range radar site while I was there. Later it became the home of AFRS - radio & television. TELEVISION??!! WTF?

Jerry,
I don't understand your math. 26 years? For me it's been 43 years. 1971 was a long time ago. I'd give anything to have those years back. I was 19 and a good soldier. I think that everybody should serve. Maybe they would learn to love our country.

::tu:: Randyfew; I agree 100% that every young man should serve to earn the rights won by our forfathers, I even believe that even that it you are handicaped there are jobs that a person can do if they wanted to serve. There a alot of young women who are willing to serve, and I applaued them for that. ftd

I believe everyone should pack some weight; what ever they can do, at a young age.
The learned discipline would be an added bonus.

Twenty six years before Mike's picture was taken in Somalia in 1992. Forty-eight years before today.

Even though I was not a combat Marine, I am proud of my service to my country and without a second thought, I would do it all over again but I get to be seventeen years old again.

Jerry,
During my time in country, I never fired a shot in hostility. But you and I both never knew when we enlisted that we wouldn't come home in a box. We served!

Some of you will remember a couple years ago there was a drawing for a knife and the winner sent the knife to me for my new grandson's first knife.

Well, Trent is now 2 years old (last February) and is quite the little mechanic. He loves to help his dad work on anything as long as tools are involved.
This is Trent and me at my oldest son's wedding a couple weeks ago.
