Hey bighomer, I think I ran into one of Wampas's cousins on my walk this morning. Sorry for the poor phone photo.1200.jpg
Floyd, another one of Wampus's long lost cousins was easing along here at Starvation Plantation:

- Bobcat
The camera also caught the old doe that had the messed up left front leg last summer. The lower part of her leg is now missing, I'm surprised that she's still with us:

- Doe missing part of left front leg
There's all kinds of traffic at that little crossing:

- Our old 26 year old Ford 4X4
This little feller may grow into a "wall hanger" in a few years:

- Button buck, probably 8 months old, late born probably in October
"Ol' big foot or maybe it was "Sasquatch" that strolled by the camera one afternoon:

We had been seeing this turkey hen down at the end of our driveway in the woods by the road. My wife said a couple of weeks ago, "I bet she has a nest up in there". So this morning we are going down the driveway and we see her with her little chicks. I rolled down the window and my wife snapped some pics.

Treefarmer that’s amazing the doe with the missing part of a leg. She looks pretty thin as well.

I have seen a lot more turkeys up here in Illinois as of late no chicks. That is cool.

Are bobcats really plentiful in your area, or do they see people often enough that they aren't that skittish? I rarely see them, and if I do it is just a very fleeting glimpse.
I enjoy the pictures that you post, Floyd, thanks.
Ike, there is a public park in Arlington Tx which parallels the Trinity River. It has some walkways through undeveloped woods. There is sufficient foot traffic on the walkways that the bobcats are use to seeing walkers and bikers. They are by no means tame but the are accustomed to seeing people. But there are a number of them scattered through out the DFW metroplex that it is not uncommon to see them. It's always a joy to me. Coyotes are probably more common. Thanks.
I am about 40 minutes outside of Fort Worth, and we see bobcats - maybe once every 3 or 4 months on our place. We see them - and coyotes and foxes - occasionally out of the back windows of our house. I have a game camera on the back part of our property, and I check it every 6 weeks or so. I don't remember not seeing bobcats, coyotes, and foxes when I check.
Glad urban sprawl hasn't swallowed you yet. I always enjoy your pics. You have a few more copperheads over that way too

Not my picture and not a bobcat.
Young Lady I work with. Took her little dog out today. She didn’t notice, the neighbor brought it to her attention.
From the picture not seeing it in person. I would say it is the biggest snapping turtle I have ever seen. I understand this is not down south or in Texas but it appears to be a whopper. Little creek runs through a subdivision no less. Enjoy.
Nancy knew I would and definitely worth a share.

Thanks for sharing, Steve. I was watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom over the weekend (I used to watch every chance I got as a kid), and Marlin and his sidekick Jim were fishing one out of the bottom of the bayou that weighed at least 100 lbs., wrestling it into their canoe. The only luck they were having was the fact the turtle had no idea what they were doing.
Dog is right, they would snap off your hand, not just a finger.

Yes Unk my friend said it was laying eggs.
RR I definitely watched my fair share of Mutual of Omaha’s wild kingdom. It was a great show.
Both the Wife and I take risks we probably shouldn’t to save any turtle we see. I got one little one over the curb about a month ago.

Steve, it looks like your turtle has his serial number on his shell, E 3 3 3! Might be a few more letters or numbers on there revealing his MOS.
We are raising a new variety of whitetails this season. They will be required to walk upright when near the feeder or a planted food plot. Their training sessions seem to be moving right along. What do y'all think, are we on the right trail?
If they walk on their hind legs they'll be easier to spot during the season.

That's pretty wild, like Teddy Bear's Picnic for deer.
Lots of gozzlings and their parents around the area this morning. Don't get too close to the babies or you'll get a good hissing . . . or worse.
