Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

rugmar wrote: Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:34 pm I was asked to post this one in this thread. I found it yesterday afternoon in a antique/junk store. I was told it is a Camillus 1047. I’m sure most who post regularly here saw this in the Camillus 72 thread where I mistakenly posted it. Maybe it can help someone figure out an answer to a question one of these years. You just never know!

Thanks for looking!

This afternoon I added this CAMILLUS 72 variation to my collection. It's another SCHRADE 863, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. It has a "CRAFTSMAN" shield. This is my 18th "863", but only 2 have the "CRAFTSMAN" shield. Both of them have similar styles/patterns of their handles. It needed a little cleaning. I know that there's a tiny crack by the center pin. That doesn't bother me. I took some pictures and here it is.

Here is the link to my other "CRAFTSMAN 863."

Dang Skip, 18 “863” , do really like the craftsman shield on those . Great snag ::tu::
Picked up this Imperial Scout 72 variation ,the price was right. Had some scratches on main , sanded it down and cleaned it up a bit . Very tight piece yet, even with some use . So off it goes in the clone corner .
Good hunting everyone, take care .

JP, that's a VERY g@@d l👀king Imperial scouting pocket knife
and it's got the "silvertone" federal style shield. ::tu:: ::tu::
Now, you have to obtain the Imperial scouting pocket knife with
the "goldtone" federal style shield.

Today I add another member to my Camillus 72 Clone and Craftsman Family It is a Craftsman 9494 Swell center whittler. It has the Oval Craftsman shield with the Crown around the word Craftsman. It is 3-5/8" closed, and has jigged delrin handles. I believe in the sears catalogs, this may have been the ones called Boneite, but not possitive. The blades do not appear to have been sharpened on a stone, but do have some age spots or spiders. I did not have to do any cleaning and have only oiled the joints.

Smitty ,Smitty ,Smitty , you got a great 9494 there my friend. And now I know who out bid me ::tu:: ,glad it was you at the last second. And the price for that condition was good. When got outbid was really hoping it was one of you guys ,they’re getting hard to find in very good shape . Now I might have to buy a beat up one to fill the spot,as finding another in this condition will take time .
Great job winning it and Thanks for showing it my friend. That’s one you can be proud to show off .

Hey JP, I believe a lot of times there are several of us who bump heads so to speak on bidding. It is a looker. Keep your eyes open, there seems to be a lot more 72's and clones popping up lately. Not sure because of what their going for or because people needing to help their funds due to covid. I appreciate the kind words. ::tu::

Evening all, was busy day here in the mail dept. Made a Trade with Tree for this Power Kraft 84-11 . Very happy with our deal, and he slid the old 72 short line in to boot. May make a knife pick or franken knife out of it . Thank you Philip ::tu::
Got the Ulster from a members store , very good price, excellent service.
Take care out there ! Happy Hunting
