A wonderful variety of vintage pearl. So much work went into those details.

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
It's 4 1/8" Roger , sorry. Contracted maybe to the Mills cutlers as they were known to make Clements ( high end retailer) knives. These are early stainless and were made less than 10 years after WWI. It's a sister to the other two stag examples I have.thegreedygulo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 2:18 amThat's a NICE one Lyle!Sort of surprised it only has the one bolster, though it is a pearl. I think the single bolster actually adds to the looks of the knife. Is this one 4 inches in length when closed and when was it made? Thanks.
It used to be we posted the lengths along with the mark and estimated dates when we posted pictures . Now you usually just get a picture with no information and may not even know it's mark.

SOLINGEN = GERMANY
If the top line reads "C. L. & Cᴏ̲", then it is quite
possibly CARL LÜTTERS & Co., SOLINGEN in 1922.

Beauty Mike, do you know who made it? I have Schatts and Camillus A Fields farmers jacks. He was an equal opportunity contractor though. I may have a Utica , I'll have to check.ScoutKnives wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:15 pm Bunch of beautiful knives posted .

Re: Vintage Mother Of Pearl (MOP) Knives
A few more from the vault. Sadly a couple have broken blades but the pearl is intact. A couple of oddities:
the Schrade candle end lobster has one regular cover and the other is black lip pearl.
The other one has 2 J.A.Henckels blades and one I×XL blade! I was a bit puzzled about this until l noticed the back of the IXL blade was stamped LANGBEIN NEW YORK. Charles Langbein was a distributor and also a knife repair facility. Likely the knife was repaired by them using whatever blade was available. One of the bolsters shows evidence of work. Overall finish is very nice. The knives are as follows:
VALLEY FORGE.
BINGHAMS.
WAKHONSA.
SIMMONDS.
SCHRADE.
R.KLAAS PRUSSIA.
IXL/HENCKELS(4).
