Coffee and knives go together, Jtx!
Charlie - the profile of that Remington blade looks a bit unusual. Very nice.

Re: Knife Photography
I could be wrong about this but to the best of my knowledge all of the more modern Remington knives are made by contract by different cutlers. I strongly suspect that this one was made by Bear MGC. The workmanship is very similar to other Bear MGC knives I have. The shape of the blade and the way it is ground is one of the reasons I think of Bear. Did you notice that it has a double pull? A long pull on the body and a nail nick on the clip. It's well made, whoever made it.

Chasing squirrels will do that to ya! Nice-looking fixed-blade, too...I'll have to research Muela a little more.

Thanks Dan.
Muela is a cutlery company out of Spain. They make knives of various quality ranging from good to excellent IMHO. The small skinner (about 7 3/4" OAL) in my photo is one in the "good" category. Some of their "high end" knives are very beautiful and well made with high quality materials.

That is a beautiful looking knife, Charlie. Try as I might, and using a magnifying glass, I couldn't make out what the tang said.

Re: Knife Photography
If you're referring to the knife in Charlie's post above yours, the tang stamp reads "Parker-Imai surgical steel." It is indeed a nice-looking knife.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:24 pm Try as I might, and using a magnifying glass, I couldn't make out what the tang said.

Re: Knife Photography
Dan is correct QS. It's a Parker-IMAI Japan from the 1980s. I purchased it new and have used the hell out it ever since. I'm not sure if the scales are second cut stag or a bone-stag variation.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:24 pm That is a beautiful looking knife, Charlie. Thanks Charlie I'll check it outSasquach wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 12:47 amIf you love frontiersmen, primitive skills, and reading you should check out The Book of Buckskinning series from Muzzleloader Magazine (I have volumes 1 through 5, there may be more). They contain a great deal of "how to" information on primitive skills used to live and trade on the frontier. I think you'll enjoy them.

Seriously windy walk today. The K-9 Muscle Missile went chase crazy.....until he figured out it was just the wind blowing stuff around!

Nice mock strawberry flower in the photo with the Muela, Charlie. And a very healthy honeysuckle vine in the photo with the Parker. Nice knives too! Looks like the maple is leafing out in the Cold Steel photo.

Re: Knife Photography
Thanks Dan.
It's the Cold Steel Roach Belly, 8 1/2" OAL. It's one of the least expensive knives I have at less than $15.00. I bought it out of curiosity and found it to be a handy knife around the kitchen, both at home and in camp. It's from a series of knives made to resemble ones used on the frontier but with modern materials. Cold Steel says they had the "Black Powder Community" in mind.
