So I just got my ebony wood, single blade, Huckleberry Boys knife and the first thing that came out of my mouth when it rolled out of the wax paper was "oh this is going to be my new favorite knife." Absolutely love this thing. PERFECT edc size, beautifully simple aesthetics... great snaps, half stop, and spring strength. I love the all-steel construction, really does lend to the feel of "my first knife." This thing feels strong and sturdy for the size but due to size and weight it literally disappears into your pocket! The satin finish on the blade along with the sharp 90 degree angles on the back of the blade also give it a "boys knife" feel without all the polishing. Given the intentionally rustic touches here and there, the fit of this knife however is unbelievable! Absolutely zero tolerance where the scales meet the bolsters and where the spring meets the liners. At the 65$ price mark this is unquestionably the best knife for the value I have ever bought. Final thought... the concept of this knife is bang on... this is exactly what I would imagine an affordable knife 100 years ago would be like... well built because people back then lived by the "if it's worth doing it's worth doing right" but that didn't mean it had to be highly polished or have all the bells and whistles. It would be an absolute insult to the people at GEC to put this in a safe.

Well trevor, I have a pretty good accumilation of GEC's with all those bells and whistles but this knife (like Aus says) speaks to me in a different way and takes me back to a time long ago and I cant wait to get it and get it in my pocket!

Trevor, and everybody, I think you're going to be very pleasantly suprised in a month or so when GEC reveals their..... wait for it.... 550112L and 552112L. This is based on the 56 frame in spear and wharnie and will be available in both slippie and liner lock config. How cool is that?

OH! And I think it will have a square tang.

Back to Boys' and Girls' knives, I really like the simple Jacks. Great size, and a fine essence of Knife! Like fine wine really!!
Hard to say which Handle I like best!
Wonder if they still make those boots with the knife pocket in the top edge??

Just noticing some of the similarites and always looking to post that #56.......

I personally love the #15 and think it's a killer knife as is and I am sure we will see many versions of it in the future.
The EndCaps and pen in front are fantastic, and the Ebony is always good imo.

I've been dreaming of a regular Jack pattern from GEC since they started making knives.
This #15 fills the bill quite nicely.
Now they just have to make EOs, HJs etc, etc!!

Thanks Charlie. Great knife. Without your insight, initiative, drive and hard work, this pattern would have never come to fruition.

I look at these and it feels like I've found a 100 year old knife in perfect condition. The only thing missing is rat-tail bolsters.

Ask a knife producer about them, and they cringe, then change the subject!!

Rat-tails should be child's play for any machine shop with a Vertical Mill and some Fluted Ball End Die and Mold Tools. But what do I know, I don't make knives and I'm not a machinist or tool & die guy.

I got mine from Charlie also and man GEC did one great job making them. I can't wait to get our second offering going.
