Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Nice one Dale. That blade steel sure had me goin' for a while. Kept trying to focus on it and couldn't. Just got up, no coffee, double vision looking at the ring. Once I took my specs off and looked closely I finally realized there were two rings. Whew! Kinda worried there for a minute.

Ok- I need help in finding out more on this knife, possible year, anything. It is a Camillus NY with a spiral punch. Wood handle. I picked it up at a yard sale. It is not in the best shape but, I like it just the same. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Can't even dream about when it was made but you'd never find a knife like that in my part of Texas!

Curiusgeorge
i believe you have a model 71 or 73 cattle knife the 71 came with bone handles and the 73 was proxylene handles....as far as age the main blade shows a 4 line tang stamp wich could date it pre ww2, there are others here that could maybe give a better timeframe..as for the handles they dont look like original . it seems as they are a oak wood handle and im pretty sure camillus didnt use that type of wood. these are just my thoughts ....trav

Dale great pair of knives ::tu:: That 66 doesnt appear to have seen much use
Here are a couple more knives
The first is another #70 cattle in bone handles. The tang stamp is the short line 1946-50 or there abouts
The second knife is i believe a #73 cattle with the proxylene handles with the 4 line stamp and spiral punch and milled liners

I have a small collection of Camillus knives, here's one of the more unusual ones.
This a skinner with a small caping knife that fits into the handle of the bigger
knife. A Camillus expert on another forum said it was called a "Parasite" knife and that it was designed by Rob Simonich. It came in a Camillus Buckmasters box and the end label reads " BMSM2B". This is the only Camillus knife I have seen that was made in Taiwan.

Spectrum,
Camillus had their assisted opening series of knives made in Taiwan also.

This is a Camillus Heat that was made in Taiwan.
Camillus Heat.jpg
There were two smaller sizes made there as well, the Blaze and the Sizzle, IIRC.

I have not seen any fixed blades made there.
When did you get that knife?
Just curious as someone bought the name and is having "Camillus" knives imported.

Dale: I won the knife above on eBay shortly after the Camillus closing. The box it came in is identical to a Camillus/Western Buckmasters sheath knife that I bought in 2006. I also bought a few other Camillus knives and some unfinished blades from the auction held after the closing.
BTW: I am the guy who bought that Western stockman's knife a couple of weeks ago. I want you to know that I am very pleased with it. Thank you.

I have trouble getting real names associated with the proper AAPK name. ::dang::
I am glad you like the Western, but who doesn't like old Westerns? What's not to like?

I imagine your fixed blade is from the same factory that produced the assisted openers.

Three more I picked up from AAPK shop My Historical Knives. I think the sleeveboard Sword is probably a new pattern for this thread.

With pleasure, Travman. The sword stamp is worn but still visible, and the handles have shrunk back from the bolsters. Blades are worn but serviceable. The shield is not inletted into the handle, but stands proud. The single backspring construction makes for a very slim and easy to carry knife. Build quality is typical Camillus, solid and well finished, good snap for an old knife.

Nice additions while I was gone.
When I got home yesterday, (after looking after my parents for two weeks as they both had surgery),
I found this little guy in the mail.

I haven't had time to research it yet, but the slated bolsters are unusual.

I likes them Camillus knives . . . . Here's most of mine. They kinda start out new and get older as they progress. 'Cept for the PSKs and the "Made by Camillus." You can, of course, blow up the pics. ::nod::
