Sears Kenmore Peanut

I wanted to share with you guys a knife I received this past Saturday. It
so much reminded me of the days I would spend at Sears hardware and tool
sections when my parents and then immediate family were shopping
elsewhere in the downtown/mall areas.

When I saw the knife I knew I just gotta have it.

It cleaned up and sharpened pretty good. I wish it was just a little longer
but this is what was made in 1977 ( I think that is correct). The seller said
this was an advertising knife.

For me, a peanut is too short to carry, but, it's a knife, so it's still fun to look at.

Very nice Bob. More of a Pony Jack design than a Peanut. These were a Promo knife with the Kenmore name on the shield, and the the Standard Sears knife had Craftsman name on them.

I think this was made by Schrade. Good quality knife. I think i still have a few of this pattern marked "Craftsman".

I think the quality is pretty good. Most of the knives I have looked at on the internet were marked
Craftsman. I think this one is slightly rare. Kenmore was certainly a popular brand, My mom
and wife have bought several appliances.

Sorry the picture quality is slightly bad. My i phone is old school.

It is stamped "Craftsman" on the tang.

Now Felllas, Don't write off the peanut as an EDC. I carried this old Camillus 21 for about five years. It served me well and was easy on the pockets.
Nowadays I like a scoutie with screw drivers.

I fully understand why it brings back memories - That is why I collect Schrade and Knives from that 60 to '80 Range brings back memories of the Hardware store with my Dad - Great Find

I do not think it is Camillus because I do not see any pins in the bolsters.
I thought it had a swinden key system-- therefore Schwade?

This is a grey area. Someone said they thought Imperial might even have had a version of the Swinden machinery. Also, Camillus, Schrade and Imperial all traded parts and labor back and forth. That clip master blade on the o.p. knife is not typical of Schrade, but more so by one of the other two companies, all of which were controlled by Baer.

Old Crafty. Ulster made some. Camillus might have made some. Several different handle cover variations, including a rubber-like one.

Yep, several companies made the Pony Jack knife, both in single blade and two blade configuration. Here is an older photo of some I have.

FRJ, your lower one looks just like one of mine, although less worn. That’s the one I think is a Schrade, has a straight pull and a similar swedge to the 2-line 8OTs I have. Marked CRAFTSMAN USA 9547.

I also have a 9502 in black Delrin and the same swedge, and a jigged bone (or imitation bone) one with a sawtooth pull and an Ulster-like swedge. The tang stamp is very pitted and hard to read, might be 9470? This one has a CRAFTSMAN shield.
