Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Years ago dad and I raised a litter of border collies out of my male and hoods female. My best friend got a male pup that turned out to be the best cow dog I’ve ever seen and one of the smartest dogs of any breed I’ve ever known of.Steve Warden wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 12:36 am I remember as a Boy Scout, one of the Scout Masters brought his German Shephard to the summer jamboree.
The dog's name was Dee O Gee (D-O-G spells dog).
My friend called the dog T.D. When asked what it stood for he said, “the dog”.
Unfortunately we didn’t keep a single pup out of that litter. I wish we had. There were some good dogs from that one time pairing.

Came to find out, we're not cat people
Border collies are great dogs. Any of the hearding breeds are. We had a sheltie years ago. Smart as a whip.
My wife and I keep vacillating about getting another dog. Would love to, but... remember back in the day you would see the signs tacked to a phone pole -- FREE PUPPIES? We're waiting for God to give us one
Take care and God bless,

Border Collies are the smartest dogs, but in order for their intelligence to be realized, the dog needs to be trained for many hours. An acquaintance of mine had a dog of this breed, but he almost did not raise a puppy. As a result, the dog was completely uncontrollable, and one day died under the wheels of a car. This is a very indicative moment that an animal, especially a dog, needs to be started responsibly, to devote time not only to feeding, but also to education.Steve Warden wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:13 pmNice! Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
The herding dogs (and of course our hunting dogs) have always been my favorites. For several years my wife and I have owned and raised English Shepherds. I describe them as Border Collies that aren’t neurotic. But my males have died and it’s getting crazy hard to find good working English Shepherd stock.Steve Warden wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:13 pmNice! We had a feline we named TK. So enter Taco. I’ve shown him already, but he’s a 4 month old Australian Shepherd out of some non registered lines in TN. Smartest pup I’ve ever worked with too. A couple of weeks ago I put him in the pen with the bottle goats to see if he showed any interest, and boy howdy! In just a minute he moving them from one side of the barn to the other nipping them and barking softly if they wouldn’t move. He had no idea what he was doing, but just knew that he was supposed to move them. lol.
Here he is chewing his new toy last night.
“Hunting” in the field with me. When I first brought him home.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
All pets need training. It irks me to no end when people will get a dog, a cat, whatever, then neglect it. Why get one? And "for the kids" is perhaps the worst reason in the world. We got a dog because I wanted a dog, not something for the kids. They did learn the responsibility of having a pet, but the care of the dog was ultimately up to me.Challenger007 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 1:27 pmBorder Collies are the smartest dogs, but in order for their intelligence to be realized, the dog needs to be trained for many hours. She seems really happy, but it makes me sad that she doesn't have her leg, she is definitely spoiled rotten.

She's a fine specimen of a healer! All our dogs, goats, even the donkey are absolutely spoiled rotten. As all critters should be.

This is Elizabeth, she’s kind of a pet. She’s in the throws of contractions here. With any luck there’ll be new babies soon.

She rebroke her leg and the consensus was to amputate. Hated to do it but the way she is there was no guarantee that she'd ever get it well. She is doing great, , being without pain she seems to be a lot calmer.
Of course she gets no Santa Claus
