Case 024 Rescue in "Antique Green"
I got this little 024 in a group for cheap on the bay and assumed it would be headed for the parts bin because the celluloid deterioration looked so bad in the auction pics. It was at the stage where the celluloid was falling off in tiny pieces and in places the metal looked like it had been in a fire. I wish I had taken a picture, but at that point I was just trying to salvage the parts from further damage. Anyway, as you can see, the only really bad areas that I couldn't do much more with are backs of the springs and the tip end of the mark side of the clip. Interesting that the pile side of the clip is in much better shape. No hint of a pattern number on the tang, so I am pretty sure this is a pre-1949. I am very pleasantly surprised that I could save this one and we are already getting to be good EDC buddies. The bone is Culpeper's "American Standard Antique Green". Cheers everyone.
