It seems today it is easier to list what is not made in China in the way of knives, than to list what is made.
Just look at the picture. 1st. Kissing Krane whittler made in China 2nd. John Primble on shield and John Primble, Manchester OH USA on tang and John Primble finest steel trademark on blade, but made in China.
3rd. US Classic, Salt River KY but made in China. 4th the Steel Warrior made in China. 5th congress says German Classic, but made in China.
Are Hen & Rooster; Boker; Schrade now also being made in China?
If you find a "new" Schrade Walden made in the US, it is one made from all of the leftover parts, by other companies such as Bear. But no original Schrades are being made any longer.
I hate the fact that these brands are having China make there knives. It ruins and cheapens their name. What is wrong with are trade policies Japan knives are made in JAPAN, American Knives are made in China, Itally and other cheaper locations. There is something seriously wrong with the way we do buissness. I feel better now
It's the cost of doing business here in the USA that is driving these companies out of the country!
Hourly wages, insurance, workers compensation, business general liability insurance, state and federal employee taxes, and all the permits and fees attached to business that aren't called "taxes." Not to mention expensive property/facilities to conduct business in or on. The list goes on and on.
My wife and I own two different types of business and the costs are staggering.
It's no wonder companies like GEC have to charge $80.00 on the cheep end for a knife! And people just don't understand why! All they think is; their making a killing!
I could go on and on, but I'll spare myself the frustration, and readers the boredom.
I know my Dad moved his Buissness out of California for that very reason. All those permits, handicap, insurance, safety, 3M, property, workmans comp, licences, etc....are killing the small buisness; in an office wear my Dad, and Myself work California forced my Dad to spend close to $75,000 on handicap bathrooms and access to all entrances. When they started with the property tax on newer construction my Dad was out of there and relocated to Wyoming. They say all these permits and safety rules are for the over all good. At what price???? The lose of all small buissness????? THE AGE OF WALMART is upon us.
California (I have heard) is the absolute worse! These sue happy SOBs out here are something else, and driving insurance costs through the roof!
We have a pending lawsuit against us now. Out of 52 shifts this girl was late or called off 16 times!!! Imagine that 16! She got the feds involved; she claims we let her go because she was pregnant. Come to find out she was seven weeks pregnant and only knew of it one week prior to her release. Sexual discrimination................she has the Federal Government backing her, and we must hire an Attorney!
Gotta change subjects...........................man those are some nice knives!!
