Love the Sigs! My favorites by a long shot.

Thanks Ray. For me, the dependability is second to none. A bit more pricey then other manufacturers but well worth it in my opinion. My first P226 I purchased about 25 years ago now belongs to my son. Still all original parts, 15000 rounds later, never 1 Jam. No exaggeration on the amount of rounds put through it. I used to shoot 300 rounds every weekend back in the day. That much 1st hand personal use it's certainly enough to make me a believerPaladin wrote:Jerry,

"No restrike". Please explain.fergusontd wrote:I have a P-290 origional, no restrike. Upgraded some parts and got some brown, black, and tan G-10 grips plus Sigs leather pocket holster. Great shooter for conceled carry. I use Winchester ammo in 9 mm. ftd
Thanks for the explanation. I figured that what you said was related to striker type gun. Personally not a Striker Fired fan but I do own a Glock 21 that is Striker Fired. I just like a hammer to know what state the firearm is in. Not a fan of SAO or DAO firearms either. Just prefer DA/SA to have a round chambered, decocked and ready. Not to thrilled about carrying a gun that plans on a misfire situation either but a good thing just in case I guess. The P938 has 1911 controls SAO but no other choice in a sub compact it seems. Will not carry cocked, locked and ready to rock. Too dangerous in my opinion. My 2 cents, others opinions and mileage may vary.fergusontd wrote:The orgional P-290's produced starting in 2011 were straight double action only. If you had a misfire you had to tap, rack, bang. The striker fired revision you can pull the trigger again to get the gun to fire. Alot of newer Semi-Autos are now striker fired

Cocked and locked is okay if your going into combat as the 1911 was designed for. Several times I've noticed my safety lever has been bumped into the "fire" position while in my holster. Not just one particular gun either, I have several. Kind gives you queasy feeling to discover that.garddogg56 wrote:I'll tell ya Jerry shes a sweetheart I only carry her in a holster for I'm not a cocked and locked fan for pocket carry especially with a lite pull trigger, I like a heavy 9lb DAO pistol like the S&W Bodyguard 380 or a J frame for in the pocket. But as for the P238 she's about the smoothest gun I've ever shot,F&F IS SUPERB and very accurate.
Thanks dogg and Ken for the input. Glad I am not the only one that feels that way about cocked and locked.ken98k wrote:Cocked and locked is okay if your going into combat as the 1911 was designed for. On board with that Phil. Numerous SIG 10mm models are all SAO. Except the one I pictured and carry which is SA/DA. No worry for me of a racked round DA first shot on that one. Additionally, not a fan of having to trigger pull and "thumb the hammer down" on a 1911 style controlled gun wit a live round chambered. I really like the decocking lever SIG uses as an alternative to that. My Springfield 1911 is up for sale at the gun shop for that reason. Love that gun besides what I stated. The little P938 (1911 controls) will likely be carried unchambered with rack on draw. Just what suits me best.philco wrote:The CZ 2075 Rami that I EDC has cocked and locked as an option. You also have the option of carrying it at half cock or hammer down without the safety engaged. I prefer the hammer down mode and feel safe carrying it that way. It's a SA/DA configuration so the trigger pull on the first round with hammer down is significant and I don't have any concern about it being pulled by mistake. Like Ken, the cocked and locked mode always left me uneasy to say the least.
