NEEDS HELP ON HOW TO IDENTIFY GREEN BONE

IS THERE A STANDARD RULE OF THE THUMB ON HOW TO TELL GREEN BONE? I PICKED UP A SMALL CASE A WHILE BACK AND IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT IT WAS A GREEN BONE. BOTH SMOOTH HANDLES WERE SHADED SOFT GREEN. I FOUND A CASE TESTED XX LATELY AND THE ENDS OF THE HANDLES WERE GREEN AROUND THE PINS BUT THE REST LOOKED RED. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

I have seen greenbone look brown, green, and red.

There was a big discussion about green bone recently, I can't find the posts, I'm sure someone will guide you there.

But yes, "green bone" has many faces..............

It is page 22 of "Schrades my true love" in the Knife Lore forum. There's a little about greenbone, and some samples.
I think I read somewhere, of Bernie Levine saying that the term "greenbone" was not used by Case until after the fact. Some collectors came up with the term to refer to "anything that wasn't 'redbone' "!
Could this be true??

It mentions the use of Green Bone pre 1920.
