Todays Purchase

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Todays Purchase

Post by 268bull »

Went and visited a new antique shop today and boy, was I glad I did. I happened onto 3 revolving displays of knives, most of which are folders. Then to sweetin' the deal, all the knives were 30% marked down. I spent a long time and handled a lot of really nice pocket knives. I finally decided on a KA-Bar jack, stamped Olean, N.Y.. No pattern # on it though. The knife measures 4 1/8 inches closed, 7 1/4 opened. Both blades have excellent snap, no wobble. Handles are jigged bone and are clean, no chips or cracks. Price / Zalesky's collectors book dates the tang stamp from 1923 - 1951. I'm just looooovin' this knife. ::ds:: Dale

Hey, Dale. I've got one of those. I'm sure it's the same knife. My handles were gassing out so I took the handles off, but it is a great knife. Can't wait to get it repaired.
