Salm miniature knife made by Cattaraugus?

Post by knife-nut »

I saw this knife on ebay, and the seller claims that Salm knives were made by Cattaraugus. I've never read or heard of this connection before. Is This true or just wishful thinking on the sellers part to help it sell a little higher. http://cgi.ebay.com/1930s-Cattaraugus-P ... dZViewItem

As I look at that knife I just see a piece of abalone from the lip of the shell. In the 30's and 40's, abalone shells were in giant mounds along California and Mexico coasts. ::doh:: Paua was not in use in the America's, as the green abalone (Haliotis Fulgrens) was used extensively in jewelry and had become known as the jewelry abalone. Story shows great imagination, not much fact as far as shellfish are concerned. ::doh::
