I bet it feels good in the pocket.Dinadan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 08, 2025 1:44 pm Q - I can see why that doctor knife made you an addict! Very nice story on a couple of levels.
OC - interesting knife with the black and white handles and handmade blade.

Here is another of my China Wharncliffes. So far I am only posting knives with a Wharncliffe body and Wharncliffe blade. I still have a few left to go. This is a Steel Warrior. It really is a very nice pattern for EDC and I have carried one of these quite a bit.

Mahalo, Q & Floyd! I like the way he does the spine & backspring too. All my Hawes folders have his trademark "Snake" filework that I don't recall seeing on any other makers knives.

Re: It's Wharncliffe Wednesday!
I got this pretty little made in Japan A.G. Russell Amber Bone Matt Conable designed Spire from my AAPK friend and former fellow Hawaii kama'aina Gary Cheeseman, aka PCWizard, after he had relocated to Texas and liquidated his knife collection. Prior to his move we swapped knives back and forth between O'ahu and Hawai'i (the Big Island) for many years. Thanks to him I got to experience many cool knives including some customs that I never would have had the chance to otherwise; he had exquisite taste in knives and was a great swapping partner. We never met in person.

Very Cool knives you are all posting! Love that Spire and Bear Lake, and the Bones and Wharncliffe mod. on that Schrade look Great.
Here are a couple more Custom Wharncliffes picked up from my friend on the Big Island. I would say that Ol' Q is responsible for at least half of the Wharnnies in my pile. Thanks again brother, for all the cool knives I would have never had the opportunity to own otherwise. I suspect that some of these I have gotten from you probably came from PCWizard as well.

Re: It's Wharncliffe Wednesday!
Cool Schrade with the modified master, Mel, I like it
I'm not too familiar with Schrade knives in general, but I was trying to think if I've ever seen a Schrade with a Wharncliffe blade...don't believe I have
Kevin, that Ras Venter Warthog Ivory LL is one I got from PCWizard. The little barbed wire LB, of course, is a TBarK that I got directly from the maker, Michael Fisher (RIP).
Glad to see you totin' the Ivoryman Bear Lake, redrider, that custom patina is only getting better and better
I'm going to double dip today because I just happened to be carrying my custom-dyed Spyderco Delica with a custom granite-finished Wharncliffe blade and got some pics for the "Knife Photography" thread. Thought I'd squeeze a few extra miles out of them and post 'em here as well because....well, why not?!! I realize I can't compete with Yosemite for scenic backgrounds, but it's still a Wharnie and it's still Wednesday by my reckoning.

Those Customs are two beauties for sure.
Good point, Q. I am thinking that Schrade closed up shop about the time that Wharncliffe blades really became popular, but I could be wrong about that.
That is a very nicely photographed Spyderco. I especially like the middle photo with the Purslane background. No reason not to double dip, seems like this thread is kind of fading. Wharncliffe Wednesday has lasted for fourteen weeks without missing a week, which is really good for this kind of thread.

Mahalo Mel
Let's keep this thread rolling strong on week #15....with no end in sight!
Because I prefer to collect USA made knives, I was surprised to discover I had as many China made knives in my collection as I actually do. All of the China made Wharnies I've accumulated are really quite nice, too. I think this Brother Watchman 1508 Swaybelly VG-10 Wharncliffe with smooth natural bone is probably my favorite China made knife.

Crafted from a worn file and dressed in desert ironwood. This is the 6th knife I’ve made during my community college experience with 2 more currently on the workbench.

Great selection of Wharncliffe knives posted today! Here is another of my Steel Warriors. Not one of my favorites, but I am still sticking to Wharncliffe body and blade knives until I run out.

Before the day officially ends, I'm going to sneak a couple more in under the wire: my two most recent BIGHEAD mods. The GEC #34 Camel Back Congress was a "Bomb" from Ivoryman that originally had Unicorn Ivory Acrylic covers. The Case 101117 Swayback Gent originally had Black Pearl Kirinite sides.
