Just a few of the new ones. Bought a China made Al Mar Sere for about 20 bucks. Realized that I needed a partially serrated blade for work around the yard. Can’t cut woody stemmed weeds with a plain blade, the serrated blade does the trick. Cleaned it up for pictures.
Also got a Northwoods Madison Barlow in elephant ivory.

From the Legendary Iman collection. Thank you to the Sorenson family for sharing Iman and his collection with us. Thank you Tom for a first rate purchasing experience.

The Schrade sports Jeffin bones and bolsters and Iman signature patina. I'll do my very best to wax and preserve the blades as they are while still using and carrying this knife on a regular basis.

My good friend turned 77 yesterday. I had ordered a present for him from your friendly neighborhood Corn Creek Cutlery. Here's the picture he sent me of it. I liked the stag options but I couldn't pass on the blue bone on this tear drop. I know my buddy likes pretty bone too, and he was thrilled to get this surprise in the mail. Thanks again Tony for a first rate purchasing experience.

You picked some good ones, Tony ::tu:: You may be interested to know that I gave Brian that Folts Minimalist years ago when it first came out in the AG Russell catalog. We were both in love with anything Wharncliffe. He carried it as it was intended on the paracord around his neck and sent me a photo of himself wearing it on one of his family trips. 8)

Thanks for the info on the CRKT 'Q' ::handshake:: I knew he carried and used both knives, but did not know you gave that one to him. I intend to carry and use them also, and will think of the both of you while using. I remember him mentioning the Becker a few times in posts, but have not found those posts yet. I am happy he removed the blade coating. Any info?

It's likely he told me why he removed the blade coating but I only have a vague recollection of him being disappointed with the coating for some reason like it scratched and flaked off when he used the knife and left the blade ugly and unprotected. As you know, Brian was really into blade patina. He was always experimenting with different ways to force a patina for rust prevention and to get different colors out of different types of steel for aesthetic enhancement. So, even if the coating wasn't cheap and flaked off, he might very well have removed it anyway just to put his own custom patina on it.

Another bit of trivia about the Becker is that he replaced the original handle (which he felt was too smooth and not "grippy" enough) with the Micarta that's on it now. When he ordered the Micarta replacement handles, the place he ordered them from sent him the wrong color; he had ordered OD Green but they substituted a different color without telling him. Really annoyed him that a seller would do that. When he contacted the seller they told him that they sent OD Green but sometimes OD Green looks closer to brown. In the end, he decided to keep the ones they sent instead of going through the hassle of returning them since he couldn't find any in OD Green anywhere that matched his other knives with OD Green Micarta handles.

Better file away all this trivia; you'll be glad you did when it's time to play Ivoryman Jeopardy

Here is one of the knives I purchased BIN from the I-man collection. Brian had a good eye for nice knives, and this 880 in bone is no exception. I gave it a little TLC in the shop, without removing any of the good stuff...

That is some sweet bone, Glenn, you snagged a nice one 8) Apparently Brian wasn't the only one with a good eye for nice knives ::tu:: He sure loved that Schrade steel, claimed it took and held an edge better than any of his other knife brands, and after using all day a few passes over a leather strop brought it right back to shaving sharp ::nod::

The coating on the Beckers affects their ability to slice. I don't care for coated blades either ::super_happy:: it is gone. The IvoryMan patina is one reason I wanted this knife, and because he used it and the Minimalist. We may have exchanged info about this knife via PM ... don't remember. I almost bought one after seeing this one, but didn't. Having his version is much better. Appreciate the info 'Q' ! ::handshake::

Thank you, JP. ::handshake:: I appreciate the kind words.

I touched up the edges last night on a 600 grit stone and put some fresh oil in the joints. I will be carrying it for the first time tomorrow on my delivery route. With any luck, I will have an opportunity to use it as well.
