Puma Skinner

Post by Goodnight Robicheaux »

New to the board, been reading for a while and wondered if y’all could answer a question. On some Puma skinner knives, right up next to the handle on the blade there are about 2” of really fine serrations. Any idea as to the purpose of these?
Thanks in advance

They're basically for general cutting of things that are difficult to cut with a smooth edge.

Here are a few descriptions of the Puma fixed-blade serrations from Puma literature-

The first one says- "Serrations enable easy cuts in such slippery objects as green twigs, sausage skin, tomatoes, fish skin. Once the cut is started by the serrations, the blade above takes over and finishes the stroke."
