Remington r4593

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington r4593

Post by gsexton72386 »

Wondering if any one had any information regarding a remington r4593 bone handled muskrat knife. Found one in an antique shop for 18 bucks so I picked it up and it is a great knife. It's not a new remington and looks to be one of the original remingtons. Any info and some idea of value would be appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to AAPK. Your question is kinda like “I bought a blue Chevy. What’s it worth?”

As with most things condition is an important factor in determining value. At least some pictures of the knife will be necessary, along with a description of it. viewforum.php?f=98 Does it have any chips, cracks, broken blades, etc? Do the blades snap open and closed? Has it been sharpened and if so, how much? And so on. Depending on condition it could be worth anywhere from a dollar to $150 or more.

The best source of current value of almost any item is an advanced search of eBay, for sold listings only, of the item. Compare yours with same or similar items that have sold, and adjust accordingly.

A search if this forum found several posts that will have some info about the R4593. search.php?keywords=R4593&terms=all&aut ... mit=Search
