Still new to knives but learning more everyday, however, one of the first things I did learn was that a knife is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I try to find my knife prices on ebay then compare my knife to that knife add points when it looks better than that knife or subtract points when my knife is in worse condition. I also like to undercut ebay sellers, since I have less overhead.

This is a very good article about so much more than knife value: it is about almost every financial transaction.

So I can post knives to knives to find their name & price as of 2024? I’m going to be using the using eBay sellers patlfor I’ve had for over 15yrs. Is it true they charge per listing plus perslisting sold! If sold what does that equal up to a month?

This was great information. And boy I'm going to need help figuring out what I have and what things are worth. Father passed away and left behind a massive knife collection. My head has never been so full of information yet so empty the last couple of months.
Take for instance this southern grind spider monkey with the carbon orange handle 004. So I'm guessing that's number 4 made?

That's one cool knife, BV, and don't worry, after reading your post plenty of guys will be sending you advise and messages and perhaps even offers for your collection or individual knives, assuming you want to sell. The number 4 might be a pattern number. ::shrug::
And, ::welcome:: to AAPK! ::handshake::

My grandpa would answer a question like "What is it worth" with a question "How much will you pay for it" Essentially if you buy it, that is what it is worth to you.

Wayne, you’ve provided a very thorough and insightful overview on the complexities of valuing knives. It’s clear that determining a knife's worth involves various factors such as condition, demand, and the specific interests of collectors. Your point about reference book prices and the importance of informed opinions from experienced collectors at AAPK is particularly valuable. Thanks for sharing this detailed guide!

My son passed away (11 years ago now) at 21 yo. He was an avid weapon collector and a TACP in the military. I’m just getting around to going through some of his stuff that he often bought at yard sales etc. Can anyone tell me what this is and what it’s worth? it says stainless Pakistan on it. Also have various other items I will be posting. TI.

Please go back to the top and read the posts in this thread that you've posted in. The purpose of this thread is to educate about how to determine value of items, not for posting pictures of knives and asking what they are worth. If after reading you still need to ask for value, recommend you post it in a new stand alone thread.

Sorry for your loss. Welcome to AAPK.

Welcome to AAPK. Please take a minute or two to read the first few posts in this thread. viewtopic.php?t=77592

Then if you still want help determining the value, recommend you post as a new post in the General Discussion Forum. ::tu:: Here’s a link to an old thread with info about Joseph Rodgers viewtopic.php?p=730136&hilit=Rodgers#p730136

All very good points , my dad always said " it's only worth what you can get out of it at that time !! , when I go to sell something , and someone says that's too high , I tell them no it isn't ! You just have to like it as much ? Or more than I do to own it , so if your knives are priced too high says one thing to me ,,,,, and that is ,,, you don't really want to sell them ! And I know about the bidding wars on eBay , I had a Winchester screwdriver that my dog chewed the handle on , so I cut it off flush and added a piece of brass and a deer antler , and sanded down nice , it went for 171.95 , or something crazy like that , I don't sell or buy on eBay any more , they are a little one sided , and that's no good for anyone !! But I took as someone was saying , I have about 1200 knives but for the most part they are 50 to 70 dollar knives with about 3 to 4 hundred being 25 dollar knives , and a real high dollar collector wouldn't even bother looking at my collection , but I took just enjoy the hunt and the thrill of what treasure I might turn up , and for how little I got it , is the very best part , but its knowing where to go to find these deals , its hard , but it can be done ! A lot of luck goes along with finding that perfect spot to find such knives ! Thanks for sharing everyone , and thanks for letting me join the group , I greatly appreciate it , because I don't have buddies that collect so , leaves no one to talk to about collecting knives , or there worth , or to pick for information , thanks again y'all , and happy hunting !!
