Italian Army Knife?

Post by hardman »

I have only seen a knife like this one once, and the meager description called it an Italian Army Knife. I bought it because the price was right, I liked the Stag, and I think it makes a curious conversation piece. It has 13 backsprings, 17 tools/blades, and the master spear blade locks open. It had spent a lot of time knocking around a tool box, but cleaned up pretty well. The only tang stamps are one that says "Rostfrei" (which we have all seen before) and another blade has "Italy" on it. Have any of you seen anything like this?

I’ve seen similar knives but don’t recall any exactly like it. Those I’ve seen were European or Japanese. I think Victorinox has some similar models? The really old ones I’ve seen were made in Czechoslovakia or Germany and have fewer springs, with tools opening from both sides.

How big is it? Looks like it would like to have a belt sheath to carry it!

Got one years ago from a friend. It had an old biker style leather cigarette case(complete with studs!) to carry it in.
Dont think it has anything to do with the ltalian army; just a display piece. It would probably be more effective by dropping it in a heavy wool sock and using it as a mace!
