Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Do we have many antique Remington collectors that are active on the forum? I am always interested in learning or sharing any info we might have about these wonderful old knives. I have been registered for a couple of years but sad to say have not ever joined in the conversation. Hope to remedy that now. John

There are many Remington collectors on here with great knowledge and info. I'm a collector but not one of them with the great knowledge. I've enjoyed them teaching me. Ask a question. They will get back to you shortly

espn, nice display ::tu::

John, my primary interest is in Case knives and I have strong secondary interest in Remingtons. The 2 main threads on AAPK that I have found are:

1. the one we are in now http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... 67&t=16665

2. Remington Photos http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... n+pictures

I began posting my pictures in the Remington Photos thread and then switched to this thread because it seemed to be more active. You will likely see some of my pictures duplicated in both threads.

I am working towards getting a full set of the vintage Bullet knives and need a R1173 and a R4466 so please let me know if you might know where to find them. I have several old non-bullet examples and generally look for decent examples of natural handle knives (no pyremite) that still have an etch. As you probably are well aware this is challenging - especially when funds are a concern. It seems like Remington prices have taken an uptick recently. A seller on eBay has listed some very nice (and some questionable, I might add) Remington knives. Here are links to a couple that I was pretty interested in, but didn't want to pay for.

The one below is a stag stockman and is really nice.

We would love to see any pictures you might have.

I will try and post a few pictures this weekend. I have a nice collection of Antique Bullets but the only duplicate is a R1273. Hard one to find. I look forward to discussing Remington's with other antique Remington fans.

I recently picked up this R-322 in black comp on the cheap. No etch but it does have nearly full, swedged, long pull, half-stop blades. Excellent fit and finish by Remington, this knife is getting a lot of pocket time. 3 7/8" makes for a nice pocket friendly size.

Redrider if you like that little display your like this one. I drove all the way from Texas to North Carolina to get it. When I was loading it up I flipped it up and under it was an assembly tag that said "February 7 1919". I've seen Remington adds with them in it from 1923. It road great until I pulled into Oklahoma and one of the front glass broke. I pert near cried. It measures 6 ft x 4 ft x 4ft. $150.
