On my right hip, I swap out between this old Buck 110

and a GEC 23.

Currently in my left front pocket resides this old beauty from way back.

Lately I find myself gravitating towards small, thin single blade jacks or modern equivalents of jacks. Here's my current rotation - Camillus rope knife, Case 225, Muskrat Man cut-down Keen Kutter, Bear 725, Johnnie Fain customized Camco. I find like a lot of people I almost never use any blade other than the main, so I can dispense with the others and have a really thin knife that rides discreetly in my pocket, perfect for carrying to work.

Jerry,
The 55 looks very nice. Quite traditional, but I like that, and it's a well proven design.
I've been interested for some time, but still haven't got one. I've used a 501 Squire a lot for many years and I really like it. I believe they are about the same size.

Trail,
Nice combination of traditional and modern! ::tu::

froggy I too had a 501 until i broke it (dont ask how)! It might be a tad smaller than th 055.
I found a Bear knife that is just about the same size and looks. It cost me $28.00 at the local sporting shop.

Sorry, I'll ask anyway: How? ::tounge::
We're all clumsy from time to time...

If you tell us, I may post a pic with some red stuff on it resulting from my clumsiness...

Looks like a nice and sturdy Bear! ::tu::

Bad luck...

I've dropped a few myself, but never broken one that way. A few scars and nicks though...
And one pocket knife that I dropped once jumped and slid into the ocean and disappeared. ::dang::

Hmmm...
I think I promised a pic with some red stuff on it from my clumsiness. I'm away from home this week, but I'll see what I can find on my HD.

Update:
Getting off topic here now, so I made a separate post with the red stuff.

One night catfishing on the Missouri river I dropped a Sog knife in behind a wing dam. I watched where it fell in and tried to mark it in my mind. Returned about a year later, while the river was down, went to the spot dug about 2 inches down in the sand, and WALLA!!!....good thing it was stainless!!

Damn that is luck i'da went and bought some lottery tickets for sure after that
i lost a nice staight blade drop point while muzzle load hunting snow was loose and 12" deep soon as i realized i didn't have it i went to back trackin didn't find it--week later snow was melting off went lookin and never did find it--if someone found it they got their self a good one cause it was stainless too--i'd rather give one away than loose it and never find it

My Dad used to tell us a story about boat fishing at night on a big lake and losing the lantern over the side of the boat down to the bottom of the lake. He would draw us kids attention to where we were hanging on every word he was saying. Then he said he went back the next night and hooked the lantern with his fishing rod...................and when he pulled it from the water it was still lit. He would say, you didn't really believe that did you? He would say if you believed that let me tell you about the 9lb. crappy I caught with a 3 lb. cricket right after I hooked the lantern. ::paranoid::
I did lose a nice Case XX 40-64 three bladed stockman on a river once while cat fishing. I was using treet meat (like Spam for those who've never used it) for bait and was cutting it up into squares with my knife. I moved about 75 yards down the river around a small curve in the river, cast my rod, set it on a forked stick, and went back to get my bait and knife, the knife was gone! They left the treet meat but took my knife. I hadn't seen anyone in 3 or 4 hours before that. Didn't see anyone after that either. They must have been in the weeds hiding and watching. It was a pretty red bone stockman, I sure miss it.

Got this seahorse whittler in today to use as an everyday carrying knife. Two small blades for the nails and a big ol' wharncliff for everything else.

Thanks Gino, They call'em Goldenrod. I was torn between this one and a stag, but this one was about $40 bucks cheaper, so that helped the decision along.
