Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I have been carrtin this knife for about a month and I am really happy with it. I changed the pic in the original post of this thread also. But I have always liked Hen & Rooster knives, I own about a dozen or so and this Mustang bone whittler has always struck a chord with me she has over taken my cases and S&M for my edc (1/2 my edc anyways).

Nice Whittler for the pocket!
Do you know how old it is? Quite recent production?

Froggy did you notice the jigging on the handles of your RR knife looks a lot like the jigging that the counterfeiters use on those fake Case Tested XX knives on Fleece-Bay? My friend you got a deal on your knife compared to what those fake Tested XX knives sold for.Froggyedge wrote:Sunday we went on a trip to an island in the fjord just to enjoy the Spring and and make dinner outdoors.Turkey Creek Tom wrote:If I told you what I am carrying right now ~ and my favorite EDC ~ you would throw me off this forum and never speak to me again.
I have carried a knife all my life. As a boy I always carried a knife to school and yes, we traded, even with teacher's right in the hall and classroom.
As a boy most of my knives were Colonial, or Camillus. In high school it was Case or Boker. Never a Queen, the were stainless steel and no man or boy every carried a Queen.
I have carried, Fightin' Rooster, Hen & Rooster, Schrade, Boker, many German made brands. Even knives made for me by Adrian Harris when he made the Colonel Coons.
But today I am 68 years old and yes throw me off this forum...the best knife I have ever carried and I have put it out of my pocket several times and replaced it with Hen & Rooster, Case, and others but I always go back to it. It's..it'sgot a thumbs down
here many times
Oh! I might as well say it and you all will get mad
at me. My favorite and EDC is a RR

What pocket knife to carry..?
Turkey Creek Tom's post actually inspired me to bring a Rough Rider. I haven't carried one for a while.
I ended up bringing a medium sized Stockman with brown sawcut bone handles and fluted nickel silver bolsters.
A high value collector's item? No.
Some specially formulated state of the art super steel? No.
Just a decent, easily replaceable user at a fair price. I don't remember how much I gave for it, but it was less than $15.
It's nice. I like it.
And we had a great day!

I think its from the 2005-present time frame.
It is a sweet knife though.
With Soligen steel you cant go wrong.

I don't think I've seen a Case with sawcut bone handles, real or counterfeit.Aimus Moses wrote: Froggy did you notice the jigging on the handles of your RR knife looks a lot like the jigging that the counterfeiters use on those fake Case Tested XX knives on Fleece-Bay? Gino,
Norway and Norwegian knife traditions are almost exclusively about fixed blades...
We have three mayor brands of factory made knives, but many knife makers.
The really good Norwegian custom made knives are usually quite expensive and I don't collect them.
Here's just a few pictures to give you a little taste of what Norwegian knives are all about:
(Mostly custom made knives, pics not taken by me)) In fact I purchased a Norwegian factory made knife today!
No pics yet, but I'm planning to take some.

Glad you liked them!
Yes, Norwegian custom knife makers often put a lot of effort into the sheaths!
I think all those handles in pic 2 are oil treated curly birch.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Right now i carry a Blackhawk "Pointman" as my edc knife.
I would prefer a fixed blade than any folder though.I'm looking for one that i really like with an adequate blade length up to 4".More on the custom & lightweight side that is very sharp.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
In an effort to simplify my life, I'm down to carrying only one knife at a time. This has been my EDC for about a week. At 4" closed, it's a bit bigger than I like to carry in a pocket. So I'm carrying it in a sheath. Nice thing about this pattern is you can open with either hand. I am ambidextrous when it comes to knife use, so I like that. Easy open, single locking blade. 440C stainless steel blade and liners. Natural bone handles, made by Boker Plus. Called the Fiskmuk, designed by Jerry Fisk.

A fairly new member of my EDC rotation rides in the pocket today, the Buck 484 BuckLite Max.
One hand opener Lockback design with a pocket clip. 4" closed. Very light weight and pocket friendly. Inexpensive too.
