GD56, thats a 19 1/2'' trout.
It was the nicest trout we saw the whole time and my cousin caught it. It was awesome to see him fight it in and it made for the perfect time. I was standing next to him when the trout took the bait, we thought it was just one of the smaller ones until it started fighting. We had a hard time getting it landed safely, as soon as I had it in my hand the line broke, se we didn't have much time to get him on a stringer. ::doh::

Scott, the B&W came out okay, but I was hoping to have a couple hundred great pics. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
I will try and try and try until I get enough pics to show the place off better. It's a great time up there for sure.

garddogg56, Just how big do the birds get in your neck of the woods? You called him a Jake and his beard shows he is young. We think a 20lb+bird is a monster around here! The biggest turkey I have ever killed had a 10" beard and weighed 18lbs and everybody called him a big bird. Come to think about it we call a 160lb whitetail a monster too! Lot of difference between Maine and Florida. Thanks for sharing your hunt. Treefarmer

Unk - Is their meat gamey and strong tasting? Or does it depend on what they've been eating?

Hi Jerry,

You wouldn't want to eat this old boar. Once they start breeding, they taste pretty bad. But the smaller, younger ones are very good eating.

So what do you do with that old porker then? Cut him up and feed him to the dogs? What about the hide? Do you save that?

Hi Jerry,

Normally the meat is processed for backstrap, ribs, made into sausage, etc. Since this old boar was inedible, he lost his head for mounting and the rest was hauled off for buzzard food (it's a 5,000 acre ranch).

My buddy took this one out with a Win. Model 70 in .270. I had the Garand, .30-06.

The last day there I hunted with an AR 15 .223.

Nice hog your buddy got, Unk. I have a wild game chili recipe that calls for elk and wild boar. I have the elk but no boar. Mail me a slice!

An honest 10 lb. 3 oz. bass, (weighed on two accurate digital scales). Caught by my son Jeff in the Fayetteville GA. area. Sorry guys, secret spot. Bass was only out of the water a minute before Jeff released him. Three young boys, fishing on a dock nearby, asked 'Why'd you let him go?" -- My son said, 'So you boys can catch him again tomorrow or the next day, it's the biggest one I ever got, and he'll be hungry again tomorrow."

Great pictures, Old Hunter. Only thing you didn't show was squirrel huntin'! That a fine buck you've downed in the cotton patch. What caliber is the 88? There were a lot of those 88's and model 100's around years ago, everybody seemed happy with them at the time. Thanks again for the great pictures, makes these 95 degree days more tolerable, knowing hunting season is one day closer than it was yesterday. Treefarmer
