Anyone Recognize?
I bought a selection of autos at a local knife/gun show this weekend.
I need a little help in identifying the attached. The tang of each is stamped Solingen/Cutlery/Germany. On the pile side they are both stamped D.B.G.M. 'Springer' is stamped on each bolster.
Now, I am assuming they are made in Solingen by the Solingen Cutlery Co. Anyone seen this style before? I sure haven't. Both work, the dark handle one at the bottom of the photo better than the other. The release on both is stiff, I am guessing as a sort of safety feature.
Any idea as to when they were made? Again, I am guessing the 1960s.
Any ideas as to what they sell for today?
Thanks for any help as it is always appreciated,
Ray

Re: Anyone Recognize?
Thanks but this stamp is DBGM. I first thought the stamp was the same as we occasionally see on knives such as the Eye Brand sodbuster, but this stamp is different.Shearer wrote:I could find a D.R.G.M. Plus, the design is different than any I have seen. I have never specialized in autos but I have seen a few in my 73 years.

Found it. Could you tell from looking there how much these are selling for? I couldn't see any pricing info.

Re: Anyone Recognize?
kind of cool what`s the OA on it ? are the liners one piece folded ??? I have seen these before , the button is a safety as well in that by pulling it back 1/2 way it loads the spring and fully back to release .
Re: Anyone Recognize?
I have never seen those Ray but they look cool and you know what they say about things you never saw before? Keep them, they are cool.

They are interesting knives, probably made in the 1960s. They are not made by Herder!
I have one. It is pictured in the "museum" on my web site.
