Hello all,
Not being a Camillus collector I'm curious as to the age and the value of these 2 marlin spikes I picked up on Ebay.
Bought them for a friend of a friend and now he's unsure if he wants either one ....
I have $78.00 invested in both and didn't know if that was a good price or not and what they should be selling for ?
Any help would be welcomed.
Thanks,
Dean

Re: Camillus marlin spikes ... age ? value ?
You did OK price wise. They sell on ebay in the $30 to $50 range from what I have seen.
Both appear to have the tang stamp Camillus was using when they closed in 2007.
I would consider them current production as of the closing of Camillus.
I am working on some info from Tom to set up dates for the tang stamps Camillus used, but it is very difficult as Camillus would re-use old tang stamps. About all one can do is note the date when a tang stamp was introduced and then you know that a knife was made after that date, if it has that tang stamp.

Thanks Dale ....
As sturdy and well made as these are I just might keep them. I'm impressed with the quality and it means something to me to be MADE in the USA.
To my knowledge no American knife maker is producing a marlin spike now ..... please correct me if I am wrong.

Camillus made most of the Marlin Spike knives for other companies as well as their own, including Schrade and Case.

I think these are some of the best and strongest marlinspike knives ever made. They are also bigger than the Rodgers and Myerchin knives, suitable for the heaviest of work. I'm with you Dean, I'd hang on to them as part of the permanent collection.
