Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

My P.O. Box produced this knife today. It more than makes up for the disappointment I received yesterday. It's a beauty and it's an ULSTER 63, my fourth of this pattern number. It is another Camillus 72 variation and my third ULSTER variation of the "63" pattern. The first two pictures are of the new arrival. Per the seller, the handles are evidently made of a material called "bonite." The last four pictures show the different tang stamp variations. Picture #3, tang stamp has maker info and pattern number. Picture #4, tang stamp has maker info and NO pattern number anywhere. Pictures #5 & #6 (the new arrival), on one side, the tang stamp has the maker info and on the other side is the pattern number. :D

I should be getting this one sometime next week. It's a Craftsman, 3 blade, swelled center, pocket knife. I think it is and I hope it is, a 9494 pattern. The tang stamp and the shield are difficult to read. I'll give it the once over when I receive it. I'll post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

This Imperial Scout knife "should" arrive next week. It is my first Imperial Scout knife with this style shield. Except for some blade spotting, it appears to be in very good condition. I'll give it the once over when I receive it and post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These are the seller's pictures.

Floyd, this is the list of variations that Jerry so kindly provided. Of course there are still the variations of the variations and the variations that aren't on the list. ::uc::

Today I add yet another pocket knife to the Camillus 72 variation family. This one is a Craftsman, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. It is a 9494 pattern Craftsman, although it isn't stamped or marked as such, anywhere on the knife. The before pictures are about 6 posts above this one. It received a VERY gentle cleaning and looks good. I still have to find one with the 9494 pattern # stamped on the tang. Click on a picture to ENLARGE.

I'm glad there are Floyd. If there was a set amount of variations, it wouldn't be as much fun hunting them down or even discovering new ones. The quest continues............. :D ::tu::

My newest (to me) addition to the Camillus 72 variation family is this Imperial Scout knife. My second Imperial, but my first with this style shield. It also has a different tang stamp. I gave it a light cleaning to make it a bit more presentable and here it is. The "before" pictures are 6 posts before this one. The last picture shows the difference between the two shields.

I bought this Camillus 72 variation yesterday. It's another Remington R14, but besides the tang stamps, this one has an etched main blade and it has wooden handles. The pictures are the seller's. It looks like it's in very good condition. When I receive it, after I give it the once over, I'll post MY pictures.

Skip, Jerry thanks for the comments. Yes Skip there does seem to be enough in the bay to merit looking. ::nod:: ::handshake::
Jerry, it is a very clean little knife. The main blade is a little lazy, maybe a little oil would help. The secondary's both have great snap. It is a quality, well make knife, unlike the Bear for sure. Thanks. ::handshake::
