Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Reading the stampings shown above, my knife is the 3 line that was used 1916 to 1930's. It was then followed by the 4 line stamp which was then followed by the more modern 3 line stamping.

I really like that one, Skip! I've never seen anything from that series before... thanks for sharing the nice photos.

Very interesting! Thanks for posting that one.

I have some older Camillus knives. I have three or four TL-29/electrician's knives and have given a few more away. I also have four or five old Camillus camp knives, a stockman or two, and a Camillus-made Lipic advertising jackknife that I EDC and is in my pocket right now. But I've never even looked at the more recent stuff!

Now I want a Royal Straight Flush of gamblers! ::nod::

Very recently I added this pocket knife to my collection. It's another CAMILLUS, single blade, "WHAT-A-KNIFE" pocket knife. It didn't need any cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Recently I added this pocket knife to my "general" CAMILLUS collection. It is a 1959 CAMILLUS, single blade, 3 tool pocket knife. A nice companion for the 1949 CAMILLUS, same pattern, that I posted here on a previous page (137). It is in EXCELLENT condition and didn't require any cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

The 1949 CAMILLUS, if you wish to see it, is here:

Some nice Camillus additions showing up on the thread, congrats to all.

I received two additions this week. First, A long line Camillus 72 3 blade whittler, with black scales and Federal style shield. All blades have great snap with no wobble, the blades are full but do show wear and scratches. The scales do have some slight shrinkage, but are tight with no cracks. So far I've just oiled the joints. This is my first 72 with black handles & the federal shield.

Next is a Camillus Duratool, still in the pack. It has the later issue double lined Camillus tang stamp. The card still has the bubble attached but the bubble is starting to come loose at the corners, and the bottom edge of the card is starting to de-laminate.

Appreciate it JP. Yeah, that was a first for me also. I've never seen a Duratool in the pack and that hasn't been used.

Appreciate it Skip. I've got some others on the way, a couple that are interesting. Unfortunately one of these is now 12 days late and all the usps does daily is change the date and say it is still in transit. ::facepalm::

Hello Everyone!
I am newby to collecting

I have what I believe is a 1945-46 #12 Camillus. It was my grandfathers, I found when I was cleaning up the estate. Based on the 1946 catalog I found online it appears they stopped manufacturing after the catalog came out. I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the #12 is anymore more rare, then any other of the knives that came out that year

Your knife does Appear to be one produced right after the war. It has a tang stamp used for only a short time if I am seeing it correctly. I recently bought one similar to yours off eBay for less than $40. But for me it is a wonderful knife. And even more special as it belonged to your grandfather. Thanks for sharing. ::handshake::

It not having a line under Camillus makes it early production. That and the bone handle as they didn't produce a bone handle after that first year.

Skip, I think this is the no line stamp not shown in the reference section. Used only 1946 and maybe 1947 on this model.
Oops you corrected while I was pecking.
