Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

Picked up this little guy today. A Camillus Eagle Scout knife.

Did they ever use that pattern outside of the Eagle Scout Knife and sold to Santa Fe Stoneworks to adding their fancy scales? Seems that's all I've seen it used for.

I honestly don't know.
I'm not a huge fan of this type/style of knife.
It's 2 3/8" long, closed.
I only got it to add to my Camillus scouting/camping knives.

Floyd, thank you for doing this. My estimate was quite off. Some of these fancy pen knives are more recent than i had thought.

Eagle Scout knives, whatever their size, are usually more of a "Presentation Knife" than a practical user. Having said that, all of them made by different cutlers over the years are capable of being used....some more so than others.

Nice jerryd6818! Seeing your 41s, along with seeing my 41s, made me wonder if I had any other Camillus 4X pattern knives. I remember I had this one. No "obvious" pattern # on the tang. If you look VERY closely, it looks like a 42 on the tang, but I'm not sure. It is just a little smaller than a pattern 41. ANYBODY tell me what you think.

The tang sure looks like it's stamped 42. It looks like it's over the 3-1/8" closed length for a 41 & 42. The handles on a 42 are Nu-Pearl (celluloid) and that knife has "Brownstag" handles. Ya got me partner.

The 42s in all the catalogs that I looked through, all have pearl handles and the short bolsters. This possible 42, in this style does NOT appear in ANY of the available on-line catalogs or in any of my catalogs or catalog pages. Could it possibly be pre-1946?

No, 4-digit sales numbers. Camillus began using a new numbering system in 1946.

Good luck with that. It's an extremely seldom seen knife. I bought it because it has the pattern # on the blade. The other two I have/had, do not. Saw a picture of one with the pattern # on the blade one time. That's the only reason I discovered it's a #53.

If it were a "common" knife, this wouldn't be any fun. Like trying to find the "72" variations, it's the thrill of the hunt.
Then when found, its the thrill of the kill.

Well, I'm not the kind of guy that needs to hoard every one he finds of a hard to come by knife. If any more come up, unless there's one in extremely good condition that I can get at a reasonable price, it's all yours. I won't be your competition.

Oh, I don't consider this a competition, I consider this a challenge. Sort of a "treasure" hunt.
I know I have a better chance of seeing a unicorn than another Camillus 53, but then again,
I never thought I'd find a yellow handled wire jack either, but I did.
