3" EZ Open Jack with Drop Point Blade

I'm looking forward to this EZ Open Jack which is now en route, and one thing that made it stand out for me is the drop point blade. I see lots of GEC 3" jacks and barlows at the dealers with wharnies, spear point, or clip blades, but very few of the drop points.

I would appreciate any comments from a jack/barlow drop point owner on how you like it, or any background on why they are so few and far between.

I like the drop point on the #25's - I only have one and don't use it. But the shape is good.
I think the blade was new in early 2011 - is why you don't see alot of them. Someone correct
me if thats wrong please.

I think you're going to like it, AJF. One of these in Cocobolo was my 1st GEC purchase. Liked it so much I ordered one in the blue baskeweave bone like yours. They do have stiff springs, so you may have to get used to that. On one of the dealer's blogs I read where the drop point 25s were a fairly short run. Though it's not an EO, I wish I'd have snagged one with the antique sawcut bone handles (last pic) before the supply dried up.

I notice that the burnt orange jig bone model is listed as an Easy Open, but the cut-out is very shallow and different from the usual. Any idea why?

Here's a image of three..it shows the difference between handle material and the cut outs for the EZ Open Jack (Blue Bone) the Single Blade Jack (B.O.) and Barlow (Saw Cut Bone)........and to answer your question Andrew,the Burnt Orange is a Jack,and just lumped all into the same category.....

Thanks, big monk. And good eye---there really don't seem to be many of these available.

Unfortunately, one is all my knife budget can manage at the moment, but that is a nice one for someone in the market.....
