Case XX handle Jigging

Post by jjohnston »

Can someone please tell what the jigging pattern is called on this Case XX Saddlehorn T.B.62110? Also is this a special factory order from Shepard Hills?

Sorry James, this may be another one that you’ll have to ask Case about. They’ve made so many different handle covers the past few years I can’t keep up, and don’t try. ::facepalm:: So,far you’ve had over 40 views of this post with no response which usually means nobody knows, at least so far.

If you don’t get an answer here soon just send an email to Case. However I saw one recently that was an SFO and Case said they didn’t have info on it. ::shrug:: If that’s the situation you might try email to Shepherd Hills.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the response. Yes, it's sweet, When i saw it I had to Have it. Iv'e seen this jigging pattern called Snake skin, Spider web and Flint stone which makes it very confusing. Out of all of the possibilities Flint stone seems to be close to the color and the jigging looks like tile. But I'm only guessing at this point. Thanks again'

Some years ago I had a couple Cheetah Cubs with the same handle style. The label on the box they came in identified it as "Cracked Ice". Unfortunately, I sold all my swing guard knives when my collecting focus changed, and the photos I had of them (and the box label) were lost when my computer crashed and burned taking all my files with it.

I’m pretty sure it’s called alligator jigging. It looks best in olive green handles. The jigging wasn’t exclusive to SHC but the color might have been.

I stand corrected. Here is the alligator skin jigged bone. The jigging on the OP looks like this pattern writ large. Both are very nice.

Googling around...It looks like it is "Flint Jigged", with an arrowhead shield.
