Miller Scout Knife

This one just sold on feebay.

Take a close look at it.

I don`t believe it is correct.

What do you think?

Never having seen a Miller Brothers Scout knife before,I can't be 100% sure ..........BUT.........From what I can see the shield looks like either an Ulster(as does the bone) or an early Imperial and in the stamping the letters look to be mechanically spaced rather than optically spaced(that is the sign painter in me).The bolsters look a bit like early Camillus.The stamping isn't particularly even either although that could possibly be due to the tang being rubbed over a stone over time.
The fact that there were 17 bids(not sure how many bidders)seems to indicate either there was a couple people who knew what they were bidding on or there were several fools who did not.I will look forward to other posts on this.

I will let some others comment on it before I state my opinion.

Well for one thing the list of knife companies that were authorized to make official BSA knives is pretty short and did not include Miller Brothers. That alone kills it from the get go.

As was posted, the frame and bone look like Ulster.

I'm going to study the pics some more.

This seller has put out some VERY obvious fakes in the past though he primarily puts out good knives.

The fact that there were 17 bids(not sure how many bidders)seems to indicate either there was a couple people who knew what they were bidding on or there were several fools who did not.

I`ll go with the latter.

1. The frame is an Ulster

2. Miller never made an official Boy Scout knife.

3. Miller never used that style of Bail.

4. Miller used a one piece can opener, not one with a round lift stud.

5. Miller`s non official scout pattern did not have grooved bolsters.

6. The knives with this style jigging were tang stamped Miller Bros U.S.A.

The closest thing on that knife is the jigged bone handles, later Miller production used a style jigging very similar if not exactly like rogers bone, indicating they probably started buying their jigged bone handle material instead of making it themselves.
