WOW, what a coincidence! I just bought that knife tray, the knife I have had for years. The ink on the knife blade is very hard to see, most has come off. I`m not up on schrade knife numbers as you can tell
The price on the tray is, you guessed it $1.75, the price in ink on the button is $6.60, must have been the price in 1958 before they stopped making them.

I'm not either M.B., but I've been spending a lot of time recently with my switch books, and those numbers sounded familiar.
It was not only a coincidence that you had the knife you were asking about, but serendipitous that you asked your question so soon after posting the knife. One more day and I wouldn't have made the connection.

If it's meant for me to have it, it'll still be there.
I think the $1.75 was the retail price at one time, as it was marked on the end of the tray. The person working at the store where they were sold would have the price visable if a customer asked how much it was. I don`t think they would put the wholesale price right where the customer could see it. This is the first tray I have had that has the price inked on the button, I think the $6.60 was the price years later, so they inked it on the button for the customer to see as he was looking into the display case. Years ago retailers only made about a .50 to a $1.00 mark up on knives.
Maybe Eric has a price sheet to go along with that catalog cut he posted?
I bought this old Schrade Cut. Co. knife box with this pattern number on it: 2424US
Does anyone know what pattern knife this was? I don`t have any old catalogs with pattern numbers. Checked over at the Schrade web site and could not find anything over there.
I usually don`t buy Schrade knife boxes, as they are fairly common. But when I seen this one it was much smaller than you normally see and had an old label. The box is in excellent condition so I bought it.

I haven`t forgotten! Those trays are hard to find I have found another schrade box that is very long that held schrade pocket knives in my collection. looks like I will need your help again with the number on this one too!
MB,
You might want to invest in "Schrade Catalog E & Supplements."
It has prices & pics of patterns from 1926, 1928, 1930, 1932, 1934, 1936, & 1938.
It was a reprint dome by Russell in 1971.
You can find them on ebay sometimes for $20 or so.
