New Utica Cutlery Knife ????

Post by galvanic1882 »

Maybe someone has information about Utica Cutlery making pocket knives again? I have been watching this auction on ebay and was wondering if it was made recently or years ago. I emailed the seller asking if they were making knives again but have not gotten a response. Any info would be great.

Thanks Mike

Good looking stockman. It's too bad he didn't indicate what the blade steel is.

I'm not aware that Utica ever quit making knives.

I googled Utica Cutlery Co. and found an email contact link. I sent them an email asking them if they do or do not still make pocket knives. I recieved a very prompt reply from a Mr. Rick Joswik and Kutmaster.com. Here's what he had to say;

"Utica still manufactures pocket knives in upstate New York. We produce a line of tool knives for the electrician/industrial trade as well as 5 models of pocket knives and lockback knives. You can visit our site at Kutmaster.com."

Regards,

Rick

I've seen some Utica branded tactical style knives in camo finish for sale on line and I believe at SMKW the last time I was there. I have not had time yet to check out their website at Kutmaster.com but I will.

I looked the website over pretty well and did not see a single traditional slipjoint. I saw several tactical style liner locks, some fixed blades, and some nice looking lockbacks, but no slippies. I guess that the one Mike spotted on ebay is something new. Hasn't even hit the website so far.

Thanks for all the posts about my question. I have emailed the seller twice and have not gotten a response yet, can't figure out why a seller would not respond to a question about something they are selling. Well I'll be bidding on the darn thing anyway.

philco, Mr. Rick Joswik is a VP at Utica and I met him years ago when I was researching the Utica Factory knives I bought. Nice enough guy but he should know if they are making the knife that is on ebay.

The logo "Matthews", is the same as the one for the archery company. They were noted for their Mathews Solo Cam compound bow.

Thae above link is to Utica's KUTMASTER line of US made tradtional slipjoints.

I believe that these have been in production continuously since post-WWII, but the number of patterns offered has shrunk over the years.

Are the Matthews etched knives part of a licensing agreement?
