anyone have an idea as to when this one was made? ::shrug::

The C. F. Wolfertz company operated as the Allentown Cutlery Works and used several tang stamps over the years. The three I know of are as follows:

C. F. Wolfertz Co - 1862 to 1873
Wolfertz & Waldman - 1873 to 1905
Wolfertz & Co. Allentown PA - 1905 to 1944

I am sure that Fran the Wolfertz man will give you a lot of detail on tang stamps. He has done a lot of research on the subject and I refer all my Allentown questions to him. There are a some other lesser known Wolfertz stamps as well.

That's a nice older looking piece. ::nod:: I beleive if you search the patent files you will see that Samuel Mason patented a single handled/bolster knife as well. This may be spin off of that patent or a unique version of its own.
