Tang stamp

Post by bassler64 »

I just picked this knife up. It has a tang that says H.B. & S, Germany. I can't find anything about that maker. It also has sterling engraved on it and 926/1000.

It looks like it could be a BÖKER. But...... ::shrug::

Can you just change it to H.B & Co ? That would make it easier on us. LoL

I didn't recall a Boker and Sons, and havent seen a ref to this tang stamp yet, but I came across this.
Ken , you may be close, but it may be also Hermann rather than Heinrick. (or not...)

I was starting to lean towards silversmiths on this one, and came across this.
Haven't followed that rabbit hole yet, sounded promising but it doesnt track to Germany (yet)

You’re probably right. There were a bunch of H. Böker marks, and some H.& R. Böker marks. I can’t keep up with which were Herman, Heinrich, etc. Have to look them up, which I neglected to do. ::facepalm:: IIRC some were the full name but most used just the initials followed by Böker.

So it's possible that this knife is from the late 1800's?
