It is a Folding sportsman with an emblem affixed to the front bolster made to commemorate an event.I have a few of them with various emblems on them. They are usually gold with precious or semi-precious stones set into them.

My guess is that the knife was originally a service award. Each stone in the emblem probably represented a number of years of service. Perhaps five years, making that a 15 year award. The company logo is probably also shown on that emblem. I worked for a company that offered service awards like that, although they used an LB7 Uncle Henry.

Any knife I have that once belonged to a family member is priceless. You're fortunate to have something like that by which to remember your uncle. If for some reason you don't want it perhaps another family member would appreciate it.

During the 1970s-80s these Gerber Sportman knives were quite popular as gifts. They were given away by companies to their employees. I have seen similar ones with company logos attached in that same area, or sometimes a logo engraved on the bolster. I would try and track down where your uncle use to work. There may be a good chance the place is still around.

It’s not that at all. it’s just me asking because i know absolutely nothing about knives! And I would like to give it to someone who would appreciate it. I have more knives than this that he left but this one was hidden and never saw it before. If there’s value I would like to post it and give it to the right person!

Your best source for current value is a search for sold listings of the item on eBay. Search for "Gerber sportsman". You'll have to adjust for the customization - probably won't help the value unless you find a buyer having some affiliation with that company, in which case it could enhance it.

It is kind of hard to put a value on it or any knife for that matter. The Gerber knives are quality pieces but the addition of the emblem may actually downgrade the value. The ones I own have gold emblems and one has a diamond inset;another has two garnets and I have a Silver Eagle that has a topaz. The one with the diamond was given to me by a co-worker whose father received it for 50 years of service with the company. He gave it to me after his dad passed away as he knew I collected knives. To me it is priceless.
