Re: Is this a real Camillus?
It's real but not right. It is a 72 with a 69 blade added somehow. Jerry can tell you for sure but I say bogas as all git out.

Re: Is this a real Camillus?
That came in this morning via my saved searches. In my considered opinion that is what is sometimes called a Frankenknife or Fantasy knife. I think it's safe to say that knife was never a production knife at Camillus.
That said, it's in a 72 frame and I have it in my watch list and will bid on it if it doesn't go over the moon. It's very clever and worthy of our own whitebuffalo58 or glennbad and if I don't get it, I may have to search out a #69 main blade or a blade from a #19 muskrat and see if one of those fine fellas are willing to take on the job of replicating that knife. I like it even if it is a fig newton of someone's imagination.

I wonder how they got the blade configuration like that, did they add a spring? I can't tell from the pics.
It was done well.

Re: Is this a real Camillus?
I wish the #69 blade was in better condition. The tip is pretty rounded over. This is what it should look like.

The handles on that 69 are nice but some of the Delrin Camillus put out over the years is so good you have to get out the magnifying glass to see if it's bone or Delrin.

Re: Is this a real Camillus?
Looks like they had to shorten that 69 blade to fit in the 72 frame

Some of the best you can find, especially on the bullet knives they did.jerryd6818 wrote:The handles on that 69 are nice but some of the Delrin Camillus put out over the years is so good you have to get out the magnifying glass to see if it's bone or Delrin.

Re: Is this a real Camillus?
Well the #69 is 4" closed and the #72 is 3-5/8" closed. I don't know what the blade length is on either one of them but I'm thinkin' you may be right. With a 3/8" difference in the knives frames, they may have had to reprofile the #69 blade to get it to fit.PigSticker wrote:Looks like they had to shorten that 69 blade to fit in the 72 frame

I always get suspicious when I see proud pins on bolsters (or the pins in general). You generally don't see them "stand out" on those knives unless they have been used hard.
Still, looks kinda funky and cool...

Re: Is this a real Camillus?
Yeah, I don't know about that one either. I think I've heard it said that Camillus had a custom shop. I don't know if that's true or not. The tang says it's a late in the life of Camillus knife so.....
I'll leave that to those who are more knowledgeable about Camillus. Tom Williams (Camco) maybe???
That candy stripe is really pretty but if I'm not mistaken it's Celluloid. I've divested myself of all Celluloid (I think) and don't intend to get any more. Damn shame.

.........jerry, over the last few years, I've narrowed my collection down to mostly brown jigged bone or the delrin equivalent and a few wood handled ones...............................
