Thanks doglegg. I am always conflicted over whether to post a new arrival in the Mail Call thread or in its dedicated thread. Until a moderator or someone with a wiser head tells me otherwise I'm posting in both and placing more info in the specific thread.

That Red Pearl Kirinite is real pretty QS. ::tu:: ::clapping:: ::clapping:: ::clapping::

I haven't gotten around to ordering one yet, I've got to keep an eye on my collection budget. It always seems to be low or empty! ::rotflol::

Thanks Charlie. I know what you mean. About the last quarter of any month I get the budgetary blues while waiting for fresh monetary inputs.

Love that red swirl Kirinite. Here are a few more from my collection.
1st one is a red bone Robeson Canoe
2nd is a natural bone Case Canoe.
3rd is another pride and joy, Butterbean Canoe that was a SFO from Shepherd Hills Cutlery. Bone and walnut laminated together for the handles plus you have the scrolled bolsters.
lastly is a WInchester Delrin brown handles.
Enjoy,
SSk

QS, that one is my favorite in that group too. My all time favorite is still the Case Green Ivy one I posted several pages back. Interestingly I was watching the auctions Thursday evening and happened across several green ivy knives from one seller. I got 3 out of 4 for under 50 a piece. That was a steal. Can’t wait for them to show up. You can really get some bargains when there are only a few bidders.
Phil thank you for the compliment. I think that my canoes are running out soon. Here is one that I have for sale on eBay. Had it in my store here on AAPK for about 3 months and no one was interested so I moved it to eBay. It’s a 4 blade Case canoe w/ red stag handles. Pretty sweet.

I guess I'm feeling a bit sentimental because this is the first knife I every bought from AG Russell so many years ago. He introduced me to the world of pocket knives thru his Cutting Edge catalog. I had made purchases of fixed blades and tacticals, but this was the first pocket knife. It was NOS, but very old stock indeed. The stag was dried out and brittle. A mineral oil soak brought it back to life. I always called it a Whittler, but now I realize its just as well termed a Canoe Gun Boat.

I hope not. Especially since I have posted all the canoes that I own. I appreciate the compliments.

I haven't been ignoring the thread, it's just been an awfully long time since I acquired a new canoe (or, indeed, almost any new-to-me knife).

I did, however, stumble across one canoe I forgot to post while I was cleaning up and organizing my photo albums...

This should bring me up to full participation in the thread (until I find another 'boat' that gets me droolin'):

Nice Camillus, Tony! ::clapping:: ::tu:: You need to buy canoes more often. At least that's what I keep telling myself!

The red "staglon" scales are cool. I think Camillus is the only cutler that used red staglon. I could be wrong.

Good looking Cammilus. Received a larger than usual SMKW catalog yesterday. Only 3 indifferent canoes in the whole book. Apart from Case, everything in there was China or Pacific made.

I know. I got the same catalog. The smooth curly oak canoe I just posted on the previous page is one of the new canoes offered. I have been in touch with the folks at Case and expressed my desire to see more of the canoe pattern in their new products but I'm only one customer. GEC did some canoes in 2016 I believe but I haven't seen any new ones from them. American made is getting harder and harder to find. Damn shame, ain't it? ::shrug::

Indeed. Have never been to the SMKW store. I suppose the ratio of American to non-American made knives is the same. An outfit that big ought to be able to carry a better balance.

I have dealt with SMKW for about 30 years or so and they have always had a large selection of low dollar products from China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, etc. I always tell people that you can get everything from $500.00 customs to $5.00 throwaways at SMKW. Plus I believe the owner has a vested interest in selling Chinese knives via Rough Rider, Frost, Steel Warrior, etc. Seems to be the wave of the future. Don't think they'll be getting much business from me for those products but they seem to be selling. ::shrug::

QS, I love that first one, who made that? I recognize the others but not that one.
I got real lucky the other day. I was able to buy 3 out of 4 Case Green Ivy knives. Here is the butterbean canoe that I picked up. Just like the big one I posted earlier. Love this green ivy.

SSk, Yes, that first one is the one to love. And the source is the same as the others, RR. Desperate to get some color into my growing collection and not having your sources which I will not ask :) I took the easy way out. I do like the 2nd one as well.

The green ivy is choice. One day...as luck and funding permit. In time I may drop one or another of the RRs, but for now, any port in a storm.
