Has another company bought the Queen name?
Saw an add for Queen City knives. Abalone scales and very cheap price. I’d guess made in China? Had the Queen crown on tang.
I’d hate to think that they are foreign made. Thanks

Apparently SMKW now has the rights. By most accounts, it would appear they are Rough Rider knives, with a different label and higher price.

Yes; actually twice. Some individual in Ohio had purchased trademarks and equipment with intention to reintroduce Queen and Schatt and Morgan knives. He did budkus, then sold those trademarks to SMKW, while still owning the Schatt and Morgan trademark and the equipment.
You've got two choices: overpriced badge-engineered Bear and Sons and extremely overpriced badge engineered China-made Rough Ryders.

I’m opting for the third choice - not spending my money on anything made in China.

Thanks for the replies. That’s what I figured. And while I do have a few higher end Chinese made knives from RUSSELL, I will not buy anything made in China anymore.

Changing times.
Is it even possible to.consider setting up a production facility in the states to make folders and such? I have often thought about this but seems like.u just cant compete. And there are so many processes to make a folder .

So does that mean Schatt Moran may be made in the US again or were those sold as well to SMKW?cody6268 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 10:00 pm Yes; actually twice. Utica, Ontario, Cutco. All make some in the U.S. but be careful as some of their output maybe made elsewhere. There are several “non-traditional” folder makers like Leatherman still made in the U.S.A. There are others but I don’t keep up with that type of knives so I couldn’t reliably tell you all or even some of the others.

Nobody would buy them as they would be too expensive for American consumers, who buy everything based on price alone.Rossr wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 11:47 pm So who is left making in the states, case, Gec. Anyone else? Buck.?

Sadly I feel you are correct. I make custom knives and do custom leather work. I could never compete on price vs china . I run Into the mentality a lot. Cost vs quality and most choose cheap cost first. I'm thankful for those who dont.OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 2:39 amNobody would buy them as they would be too expensive for American consumers, who buy everything based on price alone.Rossr wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 11:47 pm So who is left making in the states, case, Gec.
