Case Arkansas Hunter

I just received my Arkansas Hunter (AH) from Case. It has been recently released, and is a collaboration knife, with Tony Bose. As Tony says, he doesn't create patterns so much as brings the old ones back to life. And back to life it is!!
I thought I'd give you guys and gals a comparison pic, and a little history. Empire Knife Co. created the pattern around the turn of the last century, as a Deluxe Hunting knife. It certainly has a unique style and presence!
Empire made it under their own brand, as well as under Shapleigh Hardware's "Diamond-Edge" brand. I have been told Shapleigh's marketers gave it the moniker "Arkansas Hunter".
Here we have L to R, a Shapleigh, an Empire, Tony's prototype for his custom version, and the collaboration knife in Chestnut bone. It is a nice knife to handle, not as heavy as it looks, and quite slim. The blade is 154-CM, so should be a good performer, much superior to ordinary cutlery steel.
The only real differences are the absence of a lockback, and the bolster thread lines.
Kudos to Case, and Tony Bose!!

As always your knives are eye candy and a great history lesson, a history that I am very thankful for... Hopefully I will receive my Antique bone and Chestnut bone Arkansas Hunters in the mail this week...

Thanks for that photo Charlie. I had the opportunity to hold the Arkansas Hunter this week and I can say it's quite a beauty. Another great addition to the Case/Tony Bose collection.

I will keep my eyes open for you

I have managed to collect the entire T.B./Case Collaboration set of knives and the Pearl and Abalone versions are "ALWAYS" outrageously high in price and "VERY" difficult to locate. They only make 100 of the Pearl and Abalone knives and from what I have been told only the biggest Case dealers get these and then only 2-3 per dealer. I ordered mine through a large Case dealer several months ago but I was #4 on the depth chart so I'm not sure yet if I will get those two. But they always turn up somehow on Ebay and demand a big price..
