Ok, Ok, so its not a knife per se but given my affinity for ebony handles and the fact that it is a Russell I bought this artist's palate knife anyway.
Comments about rarity or other pertinent info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Commonly called a "palette knife", so it's a "knife".

And a nice one at that. ::tu::

Very interesting folding spatula or "Pocket Spatula" as Russell calls it in a 1904 catalog. These were offered in a variety of handle materials including Ebony, Ivory, stag, and Pearl as shown in K7K's beautiful example. Russell also offered a version with a second spear point folding blade along side the spatula blade.

Thanks for the kind words.I'm almost ashamed to say how much I paid for that knife.I bought it in an old antique shop in Massachusetts about 30 years ago.The shop was having a 20% off sale on anything over $5.I gave them a ten and got change back. As far as I can tell it has never been used and the pearl is free of cracks and flaws.

Gdogg, you may have 8 or 9 of them in that room of yours and not know it.
